MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc..

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below. Which means PCarMarket, Hemmings and many others did not sell 5 cars yesterday!

Yesterday's performance didn't quite hit the "remarkable" mark, but it did offer some intriguing insights. One of the noteworthy occurrences was a sale that managed to breach the million-dollar threshold. While not earth-shattering, this sale did play a vital role in bolstering our overall sales figures for the day. Overall sales was just shy of the $5 million milestone.

What's currently piquing our interest are the challenges that several online car platforms seem to be grappling with. These hurdles are manifesting in their ability to list a substantial number of vehicles for sale. It's tempting to speculate whether adverse weather conditions could be contributing to this slowdown. Conversely, it's also plausible that certain platforms are adopting a more measured approach, cautiously ramping up their listings as we transition away from the holiday season.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the situation, we'll be diligently monitoring how many cars these platforms manage to list and sell over the upcoming week. However, based on my preliminary analysis, it doesn't seem like there's a swift improvement in terms of the number of listings.

YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES

Alright, let's dive into yesterday's top sales. Just click on the image, and boom, you're right at the listing.

The Intriguing Sale of the 2019 Porsche 935 for $1.6M

Yesterday's auction scene witnessed an impressive moment with the sale of a 2019 Porsche 935 for a staggering $1.6 million. Interestingly, this high-value transaction took place with just five bids, and the winning offer was made way back on December 21st. This brings into focus the unique dynamics of high-end car auctions.

The Canadian Conundrum: Why High-End Cars are Selling from Canada

A curious trend I've observed recently is the number of high-end cars being auctioned off from Canada. This 2019 Porsche 935, located in Canada, is a prime example. The question arises: does the car's Canadian origin impact its price? It's a fascinating aspect to ponder, especially considering the diverse international appeal and market for such exclusive vehicles. Also why are so many of the higher end cars being sold from Canada?

BaT's User Experience: A Suggestion for Improvement

A few weeks ago, I discussed how beneficial it would be for BaT to inform users when a reserve has been met or lifted. Currently, this information is buried in the comments section, ( I missed the comment on this one) which can be a deep dive with over 200 comments as seen in this auction. Incorporating a clear indicator of reserve status could not only enhance the user experience but also potentially attract more bidders by clarifying the auction's status.

The 2019 Porsche 935: A Track-Only Marvel

Let's not forget the car itself: a track-only, non-homologated tribute to the original 935 racing platform, marking Porsche's 70th anniversary. With only 945 kilometers on it, this car is a pristine example of engineering prowess and racing legacy. Its carbon-fiber bodywork, twin-turbocharged 3.8L flat-six engine, and host of high-performance features make it a coveted piece for any collector.

In summary, this sale highlights the nuanced and often unpredictable nature of high-end car auctions. From the car's location to the auction platform's features, several factors intertwine to shape the final outcome.

One Of A Kind!

Ladies and gentlemen, I have to highlight this car with more than just a sentence. This is a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL with only 19,000 miles on the odometer. But what makes this auction truly special is not just the car itself, but the seller, Dean_Laumbach, who is one of the best in the business. Just take a look at how he presents this beauty.

If this car were marketed today with its stunning color combo, it would undoubtedly sell out in no time. The Desert Taupe Metallic paint paired with Medium Red leather upholstery is a timeless combination that exudes luxury and style.

But it's not just about the looks – this car has the substance to back it up. With just 19,000 miles on the clock and a meticulous maintenance record that showcases how well the previous owners cared for it, inside, outside, and mechanically, this 560SEL is in incredible condition.

Here's a fun fact: This car was originally sold in 2020 for a whopping $44,000, and it had the same mileage then. Now, how disciplined (or some might say, crazy) do you have to be to resist driving this work of beauty for three years? Is it even possible to have a car that's "too nice" to drive? Well, I don't think so, but that's just me.

When you look at this 560SEL, it's hard to find any flaws. It's a testament to the dedication and care of its previous owners.

Congratulations to Dean, who always manages to deliver top-notch cars, and to the lucky new buyer who gets to enjoy this magnificent Mercedes-Benz 560SEL.

And remember, this auction is a "No Reserve" one, so the opportunity to own this automotive masterpiece is within reach. I’m really tempted myself… Are you?

High Mileage & Market Value: Unraveling The Connection

Got an email from one of our fantastic community members yesterday, which really revved up a conversation about high mileage vehicles. It's a topic we love to explore here at The Daily Vroom, so let's dive into it.

While high-mileage cars might not be the hottest items on the auction scene, their presence and how they're holding up is definitely turning heads. Take a look at Cars & Bids, for instance. You'll spot vehicles like a 1995 Land Rover Defender 130, which sold for a cool $32k despite boasting a hefty 300,000 miles on the odometer. Then there's the story of a 2001 Lexus LS 430 that crossed the auction block with an eye-popping 628,000 miles!

What this shows us is that high mileage isn't the big bad wolf of the car world anymore. It all comes down to maintenance. A vehicle that's been well cared for, regardless of its mileage, can be a gem. I've seen this firsthand – my colleague here at The Daily Vroom has cars in his fleets that have hit the 150K and 200K milestones and are still going strong. For example, one is an Excursion with over 207K miles that's been a reliable workhorse for towing and hauling bringing him huge value for a car that’s deemed by many to be past its sell-by-date.

The takeaway here is simple: with the right care and regular servicing, high mileage shouldn't scare you off. On the flip side, low-mileage cars that haven't been used much can sometimes be more problematic. Cars are meant to be driven, after all.

When it comes to valuing these high-mileage veterans, it's not just about how many miles they've clocked. Factors like overall condition, model, market demand, and service history are critical. And you might be surprised by the prices they can fetch. These cars have proven their mettle on the road, and that's worth a lot in the car community.

So, the next time you see a car with a high mileage reading, don't dismiss it outright. It might just be a testament to the longevity and durability that modern vehicles can offer. The car world is full of these fascinating stories – it's what makes our community so engaging. Keep those questions and insights coming. 🚗💨🌟
