2023 Porsche 911 Sale Trends

πŸš— PLUS: Finally the BaT reign ends...

The Daily Vroom

Welcome to the Tuesday edition of The Daily Vroom, your one-stop-shop for collector and modern car online auction news, trends, and insights.

Today, we're all in on the Porsche 911.

I've analysed every 911 sale this year so you don't have to. MY PLEASURE πŸ˜€

You're going to be slightly surprised by who's the leading seller of 911's. You'll be very surprised at the average prices, I couldn't believe the numbers 😱.

LETS TALK PORSCHE 911'S

Oh boy, let's talk Porsche 911's! We've had a ton of requests for us to analyse Porsche trends. Since Porsche have many many models, I thought I'd best start with one of my favorites, the 911.

Unless I'm missing something, there are no real data trends in the top 10 most expensive 911's sold so far this year. You can see below, that aside from two 2010's all the other years and models are very different. Nevertheless it's still interesting to know what sells for the big bucks πŸ’°.

In fact the only trend that I can see (not shown here) is that from this list 4 were sold on BaT, 4 on Collecting Cars and 2 on PCarMarket. What's more interesting is that out of the top 5 sales , PCarMarket are number 1 and Collecting Cars are 2, 3 & 4.

Have we finally found a model that BaT are not the best at selling in terms of numbers and average sale price? Lets dive right into the numbers...

PORSCHE 911 SALES IN 2023

Finally we've found a model of car that is not selling high volumes on BaT compared to the rest of the market. Collecting Cars are the King 🀴(just) for numbers of 911's sold thus far this year. This could easily change by the time you're reading this.

What is super interesting is the average sale price. After crunching the numbers I couldn't believe how close the average sale price was for the top three companies.

Less than $100 difference between Collecting Cars & PCarMarket. I had to double check the numbers cos I couldn't believe it!

And just over $1000 difference on BaT. This tells us loud and clear what an average selling price of a 911 is this year, $105,000.

I will, on a later post delve deeper and analyse month on month to see what the trends are looking like- but these numbers above blew me away on how consistent the average selling price was.

I was going back & forth whether or not to show the data for Cars & Bids as they are soooo far behind on 911's. I decided to leave it in as I want to be as transparent as possible here on The Daily Vroom, showing you the trends, insights from all the relevant websites of which Cars & Bids is one of the big boys - just not with 911's!

The Most Popular Models

There were fifty four 996's sales this year, dominated by Collecting Cars & PCarMarket. The highest 996 sale was this delightful 2003 Porsche 996 GT2.

2003 Porsche 996 GT2

There have been twenty eight GT3 sales this year, with the 2018 year being the most popular. The highest sale for a GT3 was this 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring '70 Years Australian Edition sold on Collecting Cars for $445,272.

Decade Winners

One last trend I wanted to look at. Is there a particular decade of cars that outsells the other decades?

Here's what the data looks like. The 2000's, particularly the year 2003 has been the most popular year for 911 sales. Anyone care to guess why?
