Generally speaking there aren’t too many of these beauties up for sale on the auction websites at any given point. It’s not like most of these go to the physical auction houses as they also have sold similar amounts in the first 4 months of the year.

The sales have come from the main platforms, Bring A Trailer, Collecting Cars, Cars & Bids and one from PCarMarket.

The average selling price this year is $200,000 which is slightly ‴ on the previous 12 months where the average price was around $195,000.

Side note: We ONLY feature cars in this newsletter that are sold in online auctions. There are cars that do get sold after the auction has taken place. But it’s not possible to corroborate those sales with 100% accuracy, so I just leave them off.

CRAZY SALE OF THE DAY

There are a number of reasons why it sold for such a high price, but none of them in my mind make financial sense. Maybe it’s because of:

  1. Two final bidders got carried away in the last few minutes and refused to back down- this often happens when the heart takes over the head, we’ve all been there!

  2. BaT - there are numerous examples of cars going way above market value. Just selling your car on there often see’s a vehicle fetching 10/20% above market value.

This Triumph was NOT low mileage, was NOT highly original. All that being said, it’s a great little car and lots of fun to drive. I’m sure the new owner will enjoy it.

Have I missed something. Let me know in the poll below.

Would you pay $62,000 for this Triumph?

CARS UP FOR AUCTION

The feedback I received showcasing a mixture of expensive and more affordable cars was extremely positive. So here are a bunch of cars up for auction that you might not have seen from around the auction sites.

Underneath each picture you will see the name of the car. If you click on the name it will take you directly to the auction.
