πŸš€ $35m Of Sales Analysed πŸ’°

PLUS: Every Porsche Boxster & Mercedes-Benz AMG Under The Microscope πŸ”¬

The Daily Vroom

Good morning Vroomers,

What a week we just had in the online car auction world. Nearly $35m of sales with an average sale just shy of $50,000, which is up on the previous week by nearly $3m!

The top 3 platforms in terms of quantity were:

Bring A Trailer

Cars & Bids

Collecting Cars

530 cars sold

122 cars sold

66 cars sold

It's a reasonable assumption that around 1-5% of these sales might not finalize due to a variety of factors. However, it's also worth noting that transactions often occur post-auction even when there isn't a winning bid, so it likely balances out in the end.

The top 3 Makes (in order) that were sold with an average sale price rounded up were:

  1. BMW

  2. Porsche

  3. Mercedes-Benz

$27k average sale price

$110k average sale price

$42k average price

I’ll leave the rest of the analysis for you to enjoy below πŸ˜€

SALE OF THE DAY

πŸš— 1981 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce Project - Sold for a Steal at $1,200!

Exterior 🎨 The Pininfarina-designed bodywork is finished in red and features a black soft top. The car is equipped with later-style body-color bumper covers, a rear spoiler, side skirts, and bright window trim. However, the soft top material has deteriorated and the back window is ripped. Rust is noted on the hood and trunk lid as well as along the rocker panels.

Wheels & Brakes πŸš— The car rides on a mixed set of 14β€³ Campagnolo and Cromodora Turbina alloy wheels mounted with Hankook and Michelin tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs.

Interior πŸ›‹οΈ The bucket seats have been removed and are not included in the sale. The car has power windows and a Kenwood stereo has been installed, though the speakers require replacement. The dashboard is cracked, the carpet is loose along the left sill, and part of the left door panel is missing.

Engine & Transmission 🏎️ The 2.0-liter twin-cam inline-four features a SPICA fuel injection system and delivers power to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission. The clutch hydraulic cylinder has been replaced, but the seller notes that the clutch hydraulics require further service.

Why is this a great bargain? πŸŽ‰

  1. Parts Value: Even if you're not planning to restore the car, the parts alone could be worth more than the purchase price. The engine, transmission, alloy wheels, and other components could be valuable to other restorers.

  2. Restoration Potential: With some investment, this could be a beautiful classic car. The Alfa Romeo Spider is a desirable model with a strong following. Restored examples can fetch much higher prices.

  3. Investment Potential: If you're willing to invest $5,000 to $8,000 into restoring this car, you could potentially sell it for a significant profit. The market for classic Alfa Romeos is strong and well-restored examples can fetch high prices.

EVERY PORSCHE BOXSTER UP FOR AUCTION

As a fellow car enthusiast, I've always had a soft spot for Porsches. There’s so many Porsche’s I would like to own - where does one start. Today I wanted to highlight not my favorite models, the Boxster.

Why the Boxster, you ask? Well, it's like the 911's playful, adventurous sibling. It shares the same DNA - the commitment to performance, the unmistakable Porsche design language, the feeling of being one with the road. But the Boxster adds its own unique twist.

I could go on and on about all Porsche’s, but instead I want to highlight below all the Boxster’s that are available for auction this week.

Underneath each picture you will see the name of the car. If you click on the name it will take you directly to the auction.
