Today, I’ve got a wild Honda story for you. And trust me, it's not what I expected to be writing about when it comes to Honda!

Catch you tomorrow,
Sam

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.

I only include websites that have sold 5+ vehicles in the chart below.

Cast your mind back to last Monday - it was one of the worst sales days I can remember. Actually, most of last week was pretty dismal. I was starting to wonder if we were seeing a trend.

But yesterday - usually a slower sales day - proved all us naysayers wrong. We hit close to $7m in sales! What I really like about these numbers (you'll see 'em below) is there weren't any super high sales. Just lots of 'average' price vehicles moving.

YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring 6-Speed $270,000

1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS $268,000

2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster $259,006

2023 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Weissach Paint to Sample $189,500

2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 $160,000

Ya know, it's always fun to be a bit nosy and peek at what cars a bidder or buyer's got in their collection. Lucky for us, some sites let us snoop through past purchase history.

So, looking at yesterday's top buys - that beautiful Nordic Gold GT3 went for $45k above MSRP. Not too shabby! The Dodge SRT Demon also sold $25k over sticker. Sure, it's not as crazy as 6 months back, but still a nice premium.

Now, the one that really caught my eye was that Aston Martin. You and I both know those things don't appreciate - hell, they drop in value faster than a rock. But someone snagged it for $259,006! Now that's what I call a deal.

Win of the Day

This 2023 Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder is everything I love in a sports car—and then some. The Python Green paint is bold, unapologetic, and just oozes character. But the color isn’t the only thing that makes this a killer buy. Let’s talk performance: a DeMan Motorsport 4.5-liter flat-6 engine that’s pushing 565 horsepower. You don’t see upgrades like that every day. It’s like they took a GT4, went back to the drawing board, and said, “Let’s turn the dial all the way up.”

And here’s why I think the buyer got an absolute steal at $160,000: You're getting a 6-speed manual transmission, the joy of true driving engagement, plus the insane power and track-like performance of a significantly upgraded engine. This car isn't just about straight-line speed—it’s about the thrill of rowing through the gears, the kind of experience that reminds you why you love cars in the first place.

The whole package screams exclusivity too—1,600 miles, rare modifications, and that head-turning green paint job. It’s the kind of car that makes you look twice and think, "That guy knows what he’s doing." Anyone who drives this will feel the envy of every passerby and car enthusiast. All in all, the new owner has landed himself a fantastic piece of engineering that combines raw performance with striking looks—and for a price that, in my opinion, makes it an absolute win.

Honda S2000 CR: $38k to $170k in 15 Years

Alright, let me spin you a yarn about this wild S2000 CR sale. It's a story that'll make you laugh, cry, and maybe want to build a time machine.

Cast your mind back to 2009. Honda rolls out this sick little number - the S2000 CR. MSRP? A cool $38k Not exactly chump change, but for a limited edition of only 700. A steal.

Fast forward to 2022. Our first buyer - let's call him Lucky Lou - snags this beauty for a whopping $200k. Now, you might be thinking Lou's lost his marbles, but hang on to your hats, folks.

Enter our second player - we'll name him Patient Pete. Pete's got his eye on this yellow beast in 2022, but Lou outbids him. Pete's crushed, but he's not giving up.

Now, this is where it gets interesting. Friday rolls around, and boom! The S2000's back on the block. Pete's ready this time. He comes in hot with a $170k bid - that's $15k more than he was willing to shell out two years ago. And guess what? He wins!

You might be scratching your head. Why's Pete so fired up to pay $170k for a car that just sold for $200k two years ago? Well, I've got a theory (not my best one!!)

Remember when Pete lost out in 2022? I reckon he took that money he didn't spend and dumped it all into NVIDIA stock. If he did, hot damn! He's probably sitting on a small fortune now. So dropping $170k on his dream car? That's just pocket change to our boy Pete now.

But let's be real - that theory sounds great, but it might not be quite how it went down. Truth is, we don't know what Pete's been up to these past two years. Maybe he just really, really wanted that S2000 CR and has been saving up. Or hell, maybe he won the lottery! Point is, we're just speculating here.

What we do know is this: Pete was willing to drop an extra $15k to finally get his hands on this yellow beauty. That's some serious dedication right there.

And poor Lou. Bought at $200k, sold at $170k. That's a $30k loss that's gotta sting. But hey, in this crazy world of collector cars, sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.

Now, if only we could hop in Doc Brown's DeLorean and zip back to '09. Imagine scooping up this little yellow monster for the original $38k. Who coulda guessed it'd be worth more than four times that in just 15 years?

But that's the beauty of it, isn't it? This isn't just any old Honda. This is a time capsule on wheels. 130 miles on the clock, Rio Yellow Pearl paint that probably still smells fresh, and that 2.2-liter VTEC engine just begging to scream to 8,000 RPM.

It's not just a car, it's a piece of history. A reminder of when Honda was at the top of their game, building high-revving, naturally aspirated sports cars that could dance with the best of 'em.

In the end, whether Pete's a stock market genius or just a die-hard Honda fan with deep pockets, he's now the proud owner of one of the rarest S2000s out there. And Lou? Well, Lou's probably kicking himself for not holding onto it a bit longer.

Just goes to show, in this crazy car market, you never know what's gonna happen. One minute you're buying a Honda for supercar money, the next you're selling it at a loss. It's a wild ride, and that's why we love it, right?

So here's to you, Patient Pete. You might've paid supercar money for a Honda, but in my book, you've got yourself a priceless piece of automotive art. And to Lou - well, better luck next time, buddy. Maybe try NVIDIA stock?
