YESTERDAY'S POLL RESULTS

Just before we get to today's action, I ran this poll yesterday. The results are overwhelming that you wanna see more previews of cars up for auction. So that's what you're gonna get on a daily basis 😀 Plus all the other juicy stuff, enjoy.

TOP END OF THE MARKET

In 2022 there were over fifty $1 million+ sales in the online auction market. King of the sales was this 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta that sold for $5,360,000 on the (current) King of sites Bring a Trailer.

2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta $5,360,000 BaT

However, in 2023, we've seen just 5 sales crossing the $1 million threshold, with the highest reaching $1,791,000. What's behind this shift in the high-end market? Seasonality might be a contributing factor since luxury vehicles generally sell more during the second half of the year. Regardless, we're currently trailing last year's exceptional performance.

Are the high end sellers now opting for physical auction houses like Mecum, BJ, and others instead of online auction platforms?

Notable sales have been taking place in the offline world, but what could be causing this transition?

One possible explanation could be the economy's influence. However my expertise in economics is pretty limited. My role here is to share emerging trends and facts and not to spout theories on the economy, although I'll probably share a few!!

It's evident that high-end sales have dipped compared to previous years. Will the latter half of the year see an improvement? Only time will tell...

Below are the top 3 sales of the year so far.

Which is your favorite of these three?

2020 Ford GT $1,791,000 BaT

2010 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 $1,650,000 PCarMarket

2019 Porsche 935 $1,468,612 Collecting Cars

AUDI RS6 AVANT

So this went down on Twitter yesterday. Doug DeMuro claimed that Cars & Bids have sold more RS6 Avant's than BaT. Is he right? See below for the actual stats.

Just before we get to it I have to highlight the car Doug was promoting, the 2021 Audi RS6 Avant RS Tribute Edition which is as the kids say 'really sick'. Stunning car and I can see the bidding go big on it. To follow this auction go here.

Let's now get to the stats. BaT have sold a total of 8 RS6 Avant's whilst Cars & Bids have sold... drum roll please 🥁 a total of 11. So Doug was absolutely right 👌 Now go check out the Tribute Edition, you won't be disappointed.
