MARKET LEADERBOARD

๐Ÿ’ฐ The figures shared below donโ€™t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc..

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below. Which means Hagerty, PCarMarket and many others did not sell 5 cars yesterday!

Yesterday marked another bustling day in the car auction arena, clocking in a solid $6.5 million in total sales ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’ฐ. Out of the 160+ vehicles that found new homes, a remarkable 20 of them boasted sale prices in the six-figure range ๐Ÿ’ต๐Ÿ‘€.

Zooming in on the average sale prices across various platforms, Hemmings landed at $12,300, Cars & Bids hit $17,600, and Bring a Trailer soared high with an average of $54,500 ๐Ÿ“ˆ. These numbers offer a quick snapshot, but keep in mind, they represent just a single day's activity.

To get a broader perspective, I extended the dataset to cover the entire week. Hereโ€™s what unfolded: Bring A Trailer maintained its robust performance with an average sale price of $51,200, Cars & Bids came in at $28,000, and Hemmings, nudged by a larger sale, averaged $21,600.

RUF and Ready: The Transformation of a 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo ๐Ÿš€

We've got a stunning transformation story on our hands! Today, we're talking about a 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo that has undergone a radical change since its last appearance on Bring a Trailer.

Back in the Day: The First Listing on BaT The car was first listed on Bring a Trailer with a slant nose conversion, boasting a turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six and a 4-speed manual transaxle. It was a grey-market import, owned by the same family since 1983, and the odometer showed 76k miles, though the true mileage was unknown. Despite its unique features and RUF wheels & appearance modifications, the highest bid was $73,100 and the reserve was not met. The comments section was buzzing with enthusiasts noting that the car was not quite up to expectations.

$40k Later: Switching Back to Glory The seller took these comments to heart and invested a whopping $40,000 to bring this Porsche back to a version closer to its original glory. They removed the slant nose conversion, opting for new OEM front fenders and a complete repaint in Grand Prix White. The car now rides on newly installed Continental tires, and the exterior is described to be in excellent overall condition.

Listed as an RUF Modified Car: A Cool Twist Now, hereโ€™s where it gets really interesting. The car has been relisted, this time on PCarMarket, and itโ€™s been presented as an RUF modified car. The RUF badge on the rear, the RUF wheels, floor mats, and a three-spoke steering wheel - all these elements contribute to its cool factor. And guess what? The bidding is already over $100k with just a few hours to go!

In My Opinion: This is V Cool Iโ€™ve got to say, the transformation of this 1979 Porsche 911 Turbo is nothing short of impressive. The seller took the feedback, invested significantly in the car, and brought it back to the market with a new, cooler vibe. And the market is responding!

VROOMY SALE(S) OF THE DAY

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of featuring an incredible collection of classic Porsche 911 parts, which initially found a new home last month for a whopping $105k. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the buyer pulled out, leaving these automotive treasures up for grabs once again.

Fast forward to today, and Iโ€™m thrilled to report that the collection has successfully found a new owner, fetching a final bid of $106,912! ๐ŸŽ‰

This vast assortment, meticulously accumulated over 38 years, includes everything a Porsche enthusiast could dream of: engine cases, gearboxes, exhaust systems, body parts, and more. Itโ€™s nothing short of a Porsche restorerโ€™s paradise, with components spanning various models from the legendary 911 series.

The new owner, a proud former US Navy Machinist, couldnโ€™t be happier with the acquisition, exclaiming, "Thank you for the opportunity to acquire such a vast collection of classic Porsche parts. As a former US Navy Machinist, I welcome the never-ending task of cleaning and refurbishing these parts. For those wondering, all these parts will eventually be available to the air-cooled community." ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

It's a phenomenal outcome, creating a win-win scenario for both the seller and the buyer. The collection has found a new home where it will be treasured, utilized, and eventually play a crucial role in keeping a myriad of classic Porsches running beautifully for years to come. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿš—
