A No-Reserve E38 Manual? Yes, Please
PLUS: The LS3 Defender, the GT-R project hunt, and our new favorite auction-prediction show.
The Daily Vroom
Good morning Vroomers,
We usually live in the moment. What sold yesterday. What could sell today. What might surprise us tomorrow. I like that rhythm but every now and then I look a little further out, because the stuff ending next week can be just as exciting as anything we cover daily.
One of those future highlights is already on my radar. A 2021 Mercedes AMG GT Black Series P One Edition with only 1,700 miles. Just forty of these were ever built and around twenty five made it to the US. It is the wildest version of the GT lineup. AMG took everything they know about aero, carbon and turbo V8 violence and pushed it right to the edge.
Plenty more to say about this one when we get closer but if you like tracking the big hitters before the action starts, this is one worth watching right now.

Community Spotlight
We built The Daily Vroom on a simple belief, the car world runs better when everyone can see under the hood. Transparency isn’t a buzzword here; it’s our fuel. We compare data across platforms, track trends in real time, and call things as they are. That’s what makes this community different, nobody’s trying to out-mystify anyone. That energy is what keeps this whole ecosystem honest and fun. So when one of our readers spins up a new YouTube show that leans into the same spirit, we’re all in.
Over the weekend I watched Bid Left Nut for the first time. It hooked me. Hosts StaceGhost and Johnny Miata line up pairs of live auctions on Cars & Bids and Bring a Trailer, pick apart the listings, then predict the hammer. Same models. Different platforms. Real numbers. They even pulled auction stats from The Daily Vroom. Appreciate the shout.
The tone lands. Part talk show, part game show, part chaos. It’s irreverent, but the takes are grounded. They notice the stuff that actually moves bids. Photography that hurts value. Option sets that carry a premium. Service notes that kill momentum. It feels like sitting with your smartest friends on closing morning.
This is the kind of content that makes the community better. More eyes on the details. More data in the room. Less myth, more signal. It also makes auction watching more fun, which is the whole point.
If you are like me, you cannot get enough car content. Add this to your weekly rotation. Give them a sub & leave a comment.

No Reserve Sleeper Deals
Here is the kind of car that reminds you why the online auction world is so addictive. A big body BMW with a manual gearbox, European spec, clean Florida title and the kind of presence that makes people stop you in a grocery store parking lot. And right now it sits at just over six grand with no reserve.
The E38 is one of BMW’s best designs. Full stop. It is classy, low and purposeful. In America we only ever got the V8 and V12 versions with automatic transmissions. Europe got the sweet spot. A smooth straight six, a five speed manual and a more relaxed personality. That is exactly what this 728i brings to the table.
Yes it has flaws. TMU because of a cluster replacement. Cosmetic marks here and there. A few warning lights. None of that changes the vibe of this car. This is a cool, honest, fully imported 7 Series that looks fantastic, drives well and comes from a seller who is clearly loved by the comments section.
You get the performance and feel of a classic BMW sedan without the running costs of the big V8s. You get a manual transmission in a chassis that wears it well. And you get a car that is probably cooler than anything BMW builds today.
At this price point, this is exactly the kind of no reserve listing people should be paying attention to. A proper enthusiast spec, a rare configuration and a chance to daily something that feels special every time you shift into second.
A fun buy. A stylish buy. And a great example of how deep the no reserve world can get if you look closely enough.
If you told someone ten years ago that a Defender stuffed with a Corvette LS3 would be sitting at fifty two thousand with a week to go, they’d laugh. Today it’s exactly the kind of no reserve listing people chase because it hits every box. Cool. Capable. Usable. Properly built. And you don’t have to be a full-tilt overlanding guy to appreciate it.
This 110 started life as a European rig, right hand drive, and has been rebuilt around the idea of adventure without the usual Defender sacrifice. You get the looks, the presence, the ladder frame charm. But now you also get a modern LS3 V8, a real five speed manual, a FOX suspension setup and Wilwood brakes that actually stop the thing. The build is recent, the work is documented and the service history is deep enough to give you confidence it’s sorted.
Inside, it’s full Corbeau buckets, diamond stitching, sound deadening, proper audio and working air conditioning front and rear. Not the usual spartan tractor cabin. Outside, the roof rack, LED lighting, roll cage elements, Sawtooth wheels and BFGoodrich tires give it the stance of a truck ready for anything.
This isn’t your average imported Defender with mystery miles and mystery work. This is a complete, turn key LS build sitting at a price (today) that feels light for the amount of hardware you’re getting. Anyone hunting for an adventure truck that feels special on day one should have eyes on this one.
This is the kind of listing that separates the dreamers from the doers. A legit R32 GT R that has lived a full life, now sitting in project territory with the seller basically saying, I am tapped out on time and I am moving on. I get that. I have been in plenty of projects over the years where life shows up, the car goes into storage, and suddenly you are the guy answering questions you do not have the bandwidth to chase down. It happens.
That is also why there is opportunity here. The seller cannot do compression tests, cannot get it on a lift, cannot run fresh under load videos. Some bidders hate that and walk. Others see exactly what it is. A chance to buy into an icon at a discount because the homework is not being gift wrapped for you.
But this is not a free lunch. You are buying a story with missing chapters. True mileage unknown. Body and paint needs. Past collision history. Storage years. And the big one, the ATTESA system is not engaging up front, which could be as simple as the accumulator canister or could turn into a deeper AWD chase. Add in a rich running tune with smoke under throttle and you are squarely in "budget for surprises" land.
So yeah, I like the potential. The mods are the right kind for a street GT R. RB26 with known supporting parts. HKS turbos and intercooler. Power FC. Proper gauges. Brembos. The bones are still interesting. But you have to bid like a grown up. Assume you are doing fluids, sorting drivetrain, and addressing rust or bodywork. If it ends up being easier than that, great. If not, you were mentally and financially ready.
This is a real project. For someone who wants the journey as much as the finish line, this is the opportunity. For anyone expecting a turn key hero car, keep scrolling.
