APRIL’S AUCTION RESULTS

So the results are in for last month’s sales. Before you go through them, please read these notes.

  1. I’ve analysed every auction website- I’ve only show the ones that have 50+ sales.

  2. I have not included after auction sales. Many sites do deals after the auction. It’s impossible for me to ascertain the accuracy of these, so I’ve left them off.

  3. Many of these sites, sell cars in a variety of currencies. I have converted them all into dollars at today’s rate.

  4. I’ve only included vehicles sales. Many sites sell memorabilia, tires etc.. they are not included.

  5. I’ve triple checked all results.(it took me 6hrs- I’m a slave to the numbers). That being said, due to my bad math or reporting inaccuracies I might have missed a sale here or there.

  6. Arrows indicate if numbers are up or down compared to previous month.

Some key takeaways from the numbers:

  • PCarMarket - they continue to maximise the sale of every vehicle. Slight increase in average sale price from last month. (they do sell more vehicles in their ‘deal tank’.)

  • BaT- continue to rise in every which way. Who can stop them?

  • Collecting Cars - numbers are slightly down, but still a high average sale price for the amount they sell.

  • Cars & Bids - slightly down on numbers and slightly up on average sale price. No significant improvement since takeover (YET).

  • The Market - U.K. auction site bought by Bonhams. Distinctly average

  • Hemmings - You can read a previous edition of this newsletter to hear my thoughts on them.

  • Car & Classic - Fighting it out in the U.K. with Collecting Cars for market share. Similar sale numbers, but VERY different average sale prices. So are they really competing?

Does it interest you to see these numbers every month

CARS THAT SOLD

April’s Honda Sales

I’m always interested to see what the auction sites are selling. This table above gives you an overview of the top 5 makes currently being sold by all the online auction websites. Not surprisingly Tesla, is not close to the top 5, or even top 10. Only 14 were sold on the auction sites.

A popular make that doesn’t get enough attention, primarily because it’s not seen as a ‘sexy’ car is a Honda. Ever so reliable, you usually know exactly what you’re getting when you buy one.

Those above are the top 10 sales last month. The overall average price for buying a Honda last month was a very reasonable $13,668. Who’s up for a Honda?

2000 Honda Prelude Type SH 5-Speed Sold for $19,750

April’s BMW Sales

I appreciate not everyone can afford the top end of the market BMW’s. Nevertheless it’s always interesting to see which models hit those ‘crazy’ numbers.

Below is the top selling BMW in April, the beautiful 1957 BMW 503 Coupe.

For those (like me) who are on a budget, the average selling price of a BMW was a much more affordable $29,085.

CARS UP FOR AUCTION

Some auctions you might have missed.

Underneath each picture you will see the name of the car. If you click on the name it will take you directly to the auction.

2018 Audi RS3 - it’s one of the first on their site to have an inspection 👀

1988 Porsche 959 Komfort - Bidding already over $1m

Would you like me to group auctions into makes or is this format fine for you?
