Good morning Vroomers!

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.

The reserve sell-through rate is just for cars that are listed with a reserve. The full sell-through rate includes all auctions, reserve and no-reserve.

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below.

BaT is back to their usual business of selling 90+ cars, but it's refreshing to see the leaderboard featuring some different platforms. Hagerty & Bonhams Online may not be breaking any selling records, but they're steadily getting sales on the board, which is often the name of the game. Yesterday's overall sales were on the lower side, with a total of $5.7 million.

Below is a breakdown of the percentage wise of price ranges sold yesterday. What is immediately noticeable compared to the day before is that the $100k+ sales are just about half of what they were the previous day. It was a day for the $20k-$40k vehicles to shine with an average selling price of $35k.

YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES

It was a clean sweep for Bring a Trailer yesterday who took all five top spots. If I would have gone down further, you would see Cars & Bids in the 6th & 7th spot, keeping up their good work of consistently selling six-figure cars on a daily basis.

Fee-wise though, anything over $100k doesn't net them any extra revenue since their fee structure caps at $4,500 maximum. So while it's great exposure moving those higher-priced vehicles, it doesn't directly translate to higher earnings for Cars & Bids.

Back to the cars, the 2003 Lamborghini Murcielago that went for $501k is a fantastic effort by the renowned seller Wob to present the car so well and achieve such a strong price. The market is starting to really appreciate and respect these older Lamborghinis that just feel so viscerally right when you drive them.

2003 Lamborghini Murcielago 6-Speed $501,000

2006 Ferrari F430 Spider $274,000

1994 Porsche 911 Speedster $190,000

2018 Porsche 911 GT3 6-Speed $169,000

2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet $136,000

The 911 was once again the top selling model yesterday. It seems like everyone still (including me) wants one!

Most Beautiful Auction That Didn’t Sell!

Let's dive into the highlight of yesterday, the auction that everyone is talking about—the Eagle Low Drag GT No.1. You would have thought that the high bid of $1,001,000 might have been enough, but alas it wasn’t.

This car took the legendary E-Type design and dialed it up to a level Jaguar could only dream of back in the day. Remember when Jaguar was synonymous with greatness? Now, not so much. This Eagle restoration is a shining reminder of those glory days.

The listing was a real firestarter, sparking over 300 comments! Hats off to '1600veloce' for delivering yet another stunner to auction. The Eagle Low Drag GT No.1 isn’t just a car; it’s a piece of automotive art that takes the E-Type to new heights.

Eagle has been perfecting XKEs for over 35 years, earning a rep for the finest restorations on the planet. They've got it down to a science—blending reliability, comfort, and performance into one sleek package.

This 1968 Jaguar E-Type pays homage to the original Low Drag Coupe race car from 1961, mixing that classic beauty with modern-day prowess. Imagine confidently crossing continents in style and at great pace—this car was made for that.

Every Eagle XKE is bespoke, and Low Drag GT No.1 is no exception. It sports an all-aluminum 4.7-liter XK engine, an aluminum 5-speed gearbox, sport suspension, adjustable dampers, and more. The fit, finish, and detail are out of this world, making it a true head-turner.

Summary

Impossible to really give a value based on data here. In my opinion, the price wasn’t far off—maybe $1.5 million would’ve sealed the deal. Here’s hoping they can seal day off the platform.

If not, maybe they should just stick it in a museum and charge viewing fees, I would be first on line!

SBX Cars - Time To Deliver?

Looking at the auctions ending today and tomorrow on SBX Cars, it seems they are in need of generating some solid sales from these listings. With two sale days this week, they currently have 13 vehicles up for auction across a wide range of makes and models.

As I'm writing this, the current bids on many of the lots appear to be lagging, but we know from experience that these auctions can heat up dramatically in the final moments. The question is, will SBX be able to successfully sell any of these vehicles when the virtual hammer drops?

Let me highlight some of the standout cars on offer, regardless of their current bid status:

The menacing KTM X-Bow GT-XR looks ready to devour trackdays. Then there's the alluring rare matching numbers Porsche 964 RS in a stunning Rubystone Red. Classic 911 fans are treated to a pristine 930 Turbo in brilliant red. One of 1,265 factory 3.0 CSL's in the world, is this bold yellow 1973 BMW 3.0 CSL that surely deserves more love than it’s currently getting.

One listing that particularly caught my eye is the "Bronco 'Desert Racer" prepped for off-road domination. Interestingly, the top bidder is silverarrowcarsltd - a name I recognize from Bring a Trailer where they've bought and sold some seriously impressive machinery. Perhaps they aim to acquire this rig on SBX and flip it on BaT? I'd be interested to track that potential transaction.

It's also worth noting that all of the vehicles up for grabs are listed as private party sales. For buyers, that could potentially present an opportunity to land a better deal than going through a dealer who may have paid top dollar amidst inflated market prices.

Regardless, I imagine there will be plenty of eyeballs watching as these auctions play out. SBX is undoubtedly hoping to secure at least a handful of solid sales to make this a successful auction week for their platform. Time will tell if bidders are enticed to pull the trigger on any of these impressive machines.

Cars & Bids Shocker!

We're all too familiar with the daily deluge of emails from car auction sites, desperately trying to hook us with their "amazing" new listings.

Let's be honest, 99.99% of those daily emails are just tired, recycled fluff that fails to pique any real interest. But as I was mindlessly skimming the latest Cars & Bids daily email, something made me stop in my tracks. For once, they seemed to have landed some legitimately stellar automobiles worthy of attention.

Cutting through the usual noise, the standout listings on Cars & Bids today are impressively curated. I found myself newly intrigued by their offerings, a stark contrast to the vapid filler that normally gets fired straight to my trash. This fresh batch is compelling enough that I simply had to share some highlights with my fellow Vroomers!

So here’s a few of them:

First up we're looking at an absolute unicorn here - a 1995 Toyota Supra Turbo, with just under 10,000 miles on the clock. Not only is this an unmodified, black-on-black example rocking the coveted 6-speed manual, but it's also sporting the rare "sport roof" option. And get this - it's a no reserve auction with 5 days left, and the highest bid is already sitting at a staggering $150,000!

Next up is a real head-turner: a 2023 Ferrari Roma, currently bid up to $175k with 5 days to go. This is the first Roma I've seen listed here, and it's a real gem! Ferrari & white don’t normally go together, but in this case I really dig that look. The seller grabbed it earlier this year for $302k, so they're clearly aiming for a quick flip.

With just 450 miles, it's practically brand new. Dressed in Bianco Avus over Rosso Ferrari, this Roma looks as good as it drives. The 612-hp twin-turbo V8 under the hood isn't just for show—this car is built to perform. And let's talk features: 20-inch wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, MagneRide suspension, and a carbon fiber steering wheel. It's loaded.

Last one I’m gonna focus on is the 2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50th Anniversario. This beauty is #55 of just 100 models made and currently has a high bid of $151,420 with 7 days to go.

With only 3,400 miles, it’s finished in the exclusive Giallo Maggio color and powered by a roaring 6.5-liter V12 pushing out 720 hp. It’s packed with features like 20-inch front and 21-inch rear Dione wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, a front suspension lift system, and a transparent engine cover. Plus, it’s got some cool aftermarket upgrades, like an exhaust system and a Sprint Booster throttle response adjuster.

Lamborghini has been kind to Cars & Bids in the last two weeks with some big sales—will this be another?

Talking of Lamborghini, here’s another stunner that is ending today. This 2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV, listed on SOMO, currently sitting at a bid of $720,004. (at time of writing) This is SV #115 out of only 350 made, and it's a true masterpiece.

With 8,900 miles on the odometer, this beast is finished in the menacing Nero Nemesis matte black paint. Under the hood, it's packing a 6.5-liter V12 pushing out 661 hp, rocketing from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. It's got all the bells and whistles you'd expect from a top-tier Lamborghini: carbon ceramic brakes, a stiffer suspension for sharper handling, and a luxurious yet sporty interior decked out in Alcantara and carbon fiber. Maybe one day for me..

CyberTruck Update

Picking up where we left off last week on the Tesla CyberTruck auction frenzy, two more examples crossed the block yesterday at significantly lower, yet still inflated prices.

Over on Cars & Bids, a decked-out CyberBeast edition with just 200 miles on the clock hammered for $135,000. With an MSRP of $122k, the seller managed to extract a modest $13k premium.

The other sale came via Bring a Trailer, where a lightly-used regular CyberTruck showing just 26 miles went for $112,000 against its $102k sticker price. Not chump change by any means, but a far cry from last week's $154k sale on SBX Cars. Another tidy profit for the seller, but nowhere near the eye-watering markups we saw in the models' early days.

While sellers are still capitalizing on Cybertruck demand to turn a profit, it's clear the astronomical pricing we once witnessed has been reined in significantly. Those halcyon get-rich-quick days of flipping Teslas for 50% over sticker are likely in the rearview mirror now. Demand may still outpace supply, but buyers aren't being gouged to the same obscene levels anymore.
