C&B goes big, Hagerty surges, Car & Classic joins the fight
PLUS: No reserve auctions you should not ignore - from a family-owned 914-6 to a rough but rare Celica GT-Four
The Daily Vroom
Good morning, Vroomers,
Yesterday was not about the $7.2M in total sales. It was about volume and momentum.
Cars & Bids just listed 47 cars on a Monday, their biggest Monday ever. And it is not a fluke. They are running 40+ listings every day this week. That kind of consistent lift takes real effort, so kudos to them.
Hagerty also deserves a nod. They have quietly become a regular on our daily leaderboards, listing more cars, many no reserve, and showing real staying power.
And across the pond, Car & Classic is stepping up too, matching Cars & Bids with a similar surge in listings. No surprise if you have been watching their traffic climb these past few months.

MARKET LEADERBOARD
💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.
I only include websites that have sold 5+ vehicles in online auctions in the chart below.

Sale of the Day
Some auctions leave you wondering who got the better end of the deal. Not this one. Both sides walked away smiling.
This Imperial Blue over Saddle Brown 328d wagon checks all the right boxes: turbodiesel torque, xDrive security, luxury and tech packages, clean Carfax, and long term California ownership. With 143,000 miles, it still has plenty left in the tank for anyone who wants a practical long roof that can return 40+ mpg on the highway.
It sold for $13,500, a fair market price, not a steal, but not overpaying either. Diesels like this have a loyal following, especially when they are well equipped and free of major accident history.
For a car we love, and clearly the buyer does too, this is how an online auction should go: transparent listing, healthy bidding, and a final price everyone can live with.

No Reserve Auctions To Keep An Eye On
I always say listings are about the context and here more than ever that matters. This is a first-time seller handling an emotional sale after 32 years in the family. He is doing his best to answer questions and upload photos but you can feel he is a bit overwhelmed by the process. That alone will turn away some buyers who want a polished, dealer-style presentation.
The car itself is a real Signal Orange 914-6 with its factory flat six, five speed, Fuchs wheels and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. It was recently brought back to life after a long sleep with fresh brakes, a cleaned fuel system and a new battery. The paint is decades old, there is corrosion showing on the fender edges and quarter panels, the dash is cracked and the heater does not work, but nothing here sounds terminal.
It is a genuine long-term family car finally coming to market. The photos and answers might not be perfect, but for someone who understands these early sixes, this could be a chance to buy well while others scroll past.
A true piece of big block Mustang history. This Bright Red Mach 1 packs the 429 Super Cobra Jet with Drag Pack, one of just 531 built, plus the 4.11 Detroit Locker rear end and all the attitude that made these early 70s cars legends.
Its story is classic muscle car lore: raced early, parked for decades, then revived with fresh paint and some custom hood work to clear the hi rise intake. The interior still needs love, a few gauges are dead, and there are some rust spots and carb quirks, but the bones are real SCJ.
If it sells near the current number, it feels like a smart buy. Rare spec, honest presentation, and plenty of upside for someone willing to finish the details and enjoy a genuine drag pack Mustang without paying concours money.
This one is not for the faint of heart but for the right buyer it is a dream find. A Super White ST205 GT-Four, Japan’s WRC homologation hero, already titled in the US.
It is also honest about its flaws. The turbo needs a rebuild, rust is visible in several spots, the body kit does not match the factory paint, and the cabin shows wear. Add in high mileage and some incomplete cosmetic fixes and most casual shoppers will run.
But that is what makes it interesting. Import hurdles are done, the rare parts are here, and the car already wears good hardware like a JM 16G turbo, TEIN coilovers, Kakimoto exhaust, and a Nardi wheel. For someone who knows these cars, can wrench or source parts, and wants a rally legend without paying collector money, this could be the right play.
This is a high entry risk, but big upside for an enthusiast who understands what they are buying and that’s why I love it!
If you are finding value in The Daily Vroom, the insight, the picks, the context you will not find anywhere else, I would love if you shared it with a friend who is into cars or auctions.
Send them to thedailyvroom.com so they can sign up and start getting it too. Word of mouth is what keeps this growing.
Thanks for spreading the word.
