📣 Cybertruck Prices Dropping Fast?

The Daily Vroom

Good Morning, Vroomers!

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc
All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below.

It’s been the recurring theme of the week. Total sales are hovering around the $5 million mark, yet no other platforms are selling consistently enough to hit the market leaderboard. Peering into the future with Hagerty, Hemmings, SBX, PCarMarket, and many others ramping up their listings, the question remains: will they manage to make the market leaderboard next week? Stay tuned. We’ll soon see.

AMG Delights

This may be a little funny looking, but don't let the minivan vibes fool you. These AMG monsters are big, luxurious, highway marathoners with room for a family and their gear.

These turbocharged AMG SL63 Roadsters are a marvel of engineering, but with the seamless integration of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed automatic transmission, they transcend their class. Already rare upon their release, they are becoming icons today. This pristine example, with no reserve, awaits both a new owner and countless adventures on the open road. Nothing like this is built today, and it's unlikely we'll see its like again

These twin-turbo SL63 AMGs are more than just a performance machine; they're a dying breed of raw power and classic luxury. This 2013 model, cloaked in Iridium Silver with only 8k miles, is a perfect blend of high-performance engineering and timeless style. I'd take this beast over any new model today—nothing on the market matches its character or promises the same thrill.

Alumni Catchup

Below are the top 5 Alumni sales yesterday. The arrows in the diagram below show whether the vehicle sale has gone down or up in value.

Yesterday, just like the days before, most of the Alumni listings sold like hotcakes! Among them was the 2007 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG, which fetched a bit over $20k—a stark drop from its $35,500 price tag just 18 months ago. Now that's what you call depreciation! What's the deal here?

Understanding why a beast with 600 HP dipped to $20k isn't straightforward. The auction was a No Reserve, which probably nudged it along, but why didn't the bids climb higher? Has the car really shed that much value in such a short span? Well, it was snagged at the market's peak, which sheds some light on it. Plus, it only racked up an extra 3k miles since its last sale, so mileage isn't the culprit. The auction also saw 30% fewer views than its predecessor, which certainly doesn't do any favors for 'lower-end' auctions.

My take? First off, the buyer scored a stellar deal. With the no reserve status, a previous sale at a market peak, and fewer eyeballs this time, all these factors combined to its fate. On any other day, this ride is easily worth between $25k and $30k.

And let’s not forget the 1979 Mazda RX-7 GS, which sold for more than double its previous $14k. A true rotary legend! It's undergone some sweet upgrades, including new stock suspension parts, 13″ alloy wheels, a steering column bushing, and coolant hoses. Not to mention a rebuilt carburetor, a shiny new Clarion push-button radio, and a period power antenna. The seller was over the moon, saying, “Guys, I’m delighted to welcome this vehicle to the East Coast, where she will have a place of honor next to my ’51 Chevy Half-Ton.” What a fantastic buy and a phenomenal car!

CyberTruck Prices Falling

Cybertruck prices are dropping faster than a lead ballon. The latest one just went for $123k on BaT. Meanwhile, over on Cars & Bids, there's one clocking in at $130k with three days left to go. But it sure doesn’t do the seller any favors when someone pipes up to mention the lower price tag from the other sale.

Just this week, we tackled the issue of the toxic comment section during the auction of a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Coupe. No shocker—it didn’t find a buyer. Looks like it’s high time we cracked open a conversation about the negativity brewing in those comment sections. I’ve got that discussion on the docket for next week. In the meantime, have a great weekend, and see you on Monday.
