The Double Listing Dilemma?
PLUS: Layoffs hit the market, what to do next...
The Daily Vroom
Good morning Vroomers!
Let's start with yesterday's market overview: We saw $5.7m in total sales, with most activity concentrated in the $20-40k range. The average sale price landed at $38k, slightly below our typical figures. I'll break down some notable sales in a moment.

But first, I need to address something important. I've received several messages about recent changes in our industry, specifically regarding team restructuring at a specific platform. While I'm still gathering accurate information - as it's crucial we deal in facts rather than speculation - I want to reach out to anyone affected.
If you've been impacted by these changes, please know you're not alone. The collector car community is tight-knit, and we take care of our own. I have extensive connections across the industry and would be honored to help connect you with new opportunities. While I can't guarantee outcomes, I'm committed to doing what I can to help you land on your feet.
Feel free to reach out privately. Your situation will be handled with complete confidentiality and respect.
Now, let's look at yesterday's leaderboard…

MARKET LEADERBOARD
💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.
I only include websites that have sold 5+ vehicles in the chart below.

YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES

Sale of the Day
A 2013 Volvo C30 Polestar Limited Edition for $16,250! That’s a great price for what the Swedes put together—rare, quirky, and surprisingly capable.
Only 250 of these were built, all with the Polestar tune, sport chassis, and a 250-hp turbo five-cylinder. Throw in the 6-speed manual and Rebel Blue paint, and you’ve got something that stands out in the best way. It’s an enthusiast’s car through and through, even if most people don’t realize it.
Yes, it’s got 130k miles and some wear—chips, scratches, and interior scuffs—but these C30s are built to last and if you speak to an owner of one, they’ll tell you how much they love em!
Bottom line, someone just picked up a rare, fun, and genuinely cool hot hatch for the right price.

The Double-Listing Dilemma: When Sellers Play Multiple Fields
Let's talk about something that keeps popping up in the auction world - the "list it everywhere and see what sticks" approach. A perfect example just landed with this 1963 Porsche 356B that's no doubt causing the seller (and platform) a headache.
Here's the scenario: Seller lists their 356B on an auction platform. Sharp-eyed bidders (because let's face it, our community does their homework) discover the car is already listed elsewhere. Seller scrambles to remove that listing. Then - plot twist - another listing surfaces. Cue the collective groan from everyone involved.
This happens more often than you'd think. A car sits on a dealer's lot or classified site, gathering digital dust. Seller gets antsy, decides to try their luck at auction, but forgets (or ignores) that pesky exclusivity clause that nearly every auction platform requires.
Here's why this matters:
Price transparency gets weird. When your auction car is listed elsewhere with a fixed price, it essentially sets a ceiling on bidding
Bidders lose confidence. Nothing kills auction momentum like discovering multiple listings
Platforms have to play bad cop, either pulling listings or forcing sellers to make quick decisions
Look, I get it. Selling a car can be frustrating, and when that for-sale sign has been up too long, the temptation to cast a wider net is real. But here's the thing - auction platforms should usually be your first stop, not your backup plan. Why? Because they bring amongst other things:
Active, engaged buyers
Clear timelines
Market-driven pricing
Professional presentation
So if you're thinking about selling, pick a lane and stick to it. If you choose the auction route, commit to it. Because nobody wins when a listing gets caught in the crossfire of multiple platforms - especially not that poor 356B that's currently causing headaches for everyone involved.
