The Weirdest 2 for 1 Auction You'll Ever See...

PLUS: Why this Hot Wheels Collection Lit Up BaT

The Daily Vroom

Morning, Vroomers!

Yesterday was pretty quiet on the auction front. Looks like a lot of platforms didn’t have the staff around January 1st to kick off their usual 7-day listings, so not much wrapped up yesterday.

That said, Cars & Bids crushed it again, almost selling out and scoring some big six-figure sales. It’s been a good start to the year for them in terms of six figure sales. In general January’s shaping up to be a bit of a slow burn, but let’s see how things heat up in the next few weeks.

Sale of the Day

I know I don’t usually cover non-vehicle sales, but this one broke the mold. The 4,500-Piece Hot Wheels Collection lit up the site with over 82,000 views, and a staggering 300+ comments. It sold for $19,911 —roughly $4.42 per car.

The collection, built over 30 years, featured everything from hot rods to exotics, including collaborations with pop culture giants like Batman, Star Wars, and Mario Kart. Not to mention, it included special series like Treasure Hunts and Car Culture.

The chatter in the comments was equal parts admiration and nostalgia. Some marveled at its scale and organization, while others debated its resale potential. Either way, this sale proved that even the tiniest cars can leave a massive impression. I’m sure the seller’s wife is a happy bunny!

Potential Bargains

If you’re on the hunt for a budget-friendly slice of classic BMW goodness, this 1983 BMW 528e might just be worth a closer look. It’s not the fastest thing on four wheels, but that’s not the point here—it’s a true driver’s car with a laid-back charm, perfect for someone who appreciates old-school engineering without the pressure of chasing speed records.

Here’s the deal: it’s a no-reserve auction, so someone’s taking this home. With just under 59,000 miles, this Arctic Blue beauty has barely stretched its legs. Sure, it’s got a few imperfections—chips, scratches, and a slightly chirpy pulley—but the seller has been refreshingly transparent about every detail. They even mention a shake under hard braking (likely a thrust arm bushing) and some rust underneath. The kind of honesty we all want in a seller.

Mechanically, the 528e leans more toward efficiency and comfort than outright performance. Its 2.7-liter inline-6 engine produces a modest 127 horsepower, but this car isn’t about burning rubber. It’s about smooth cruising, solid reliability, and that quintessential BMW balance. Plus, the seller has invested a lot in maintenance, with service records showing a long list of replacements and upgrades to keep it running well.

Here’s one you don’t see every day—a 1998 Suzuki Carry Pickup 4WD bundled with a 2001 Vespa ET2. Yep, two for the price of one & it’s a no reserve auction. This quirky little package is perfect if you want something fun, functional, and a guaranteed conversation starter.

The Suzuki Carry is a kei truck, meaning it’s compact, efficient, and full of charm. It’s got 4WD, a 5-speed manual with an extra-low gear for crawling, and fold-down bed sides that make it super versatile. Sure, it’s not setting any speed records (more of a 45 mph cruiser), but that’s part of the fun. Beige paint, cute little steel wheels, and Cutie covers—it’s got character in spades.

And then there’s the Vespa. It’s riding shotgun (well, in the bed) and comes wrapped in a Coach-inspired design. The wrap could use a refresh, but underneath you’ve got a stylish scooter powered by a 49cc two-stroke engine. It’s perfect for zipping around town or just flexing on your neighbors.

This might stretch the meaning of a bargain, but what a car it is.

Here’s one we all dream of—the 2004 BMW M3 CSL, a true performance icon. This Black Sapphire Metallic beauty has just under 50,000 miles and has been obsessively maintained, with a full respray and paint protection film applied to keep it looking flawless.

It comes with all the CSL goodies—carbon-fiber roof, lightweight panels, and that glorious 3.2L straight-six. Recent inspections by Italia Autosport confirmed it’s in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition, with zero corrosion. The seller sourced it from Munich Legends, and the care shows—this one’s ready for its next chapter.

If you’re serious about owning one of the cleanest CSLs out there, don’t miss this opportunity. A modern classic doesn’t get much better than this.
