Back on the Block For 3rd Time: Will This Dino Sell?
PLUS: Why the market didn't slow down yesterday...
The Daily Vroom
Good morning Vroomers!
Sales yesterday exceeded expectations, bringing in $5.5M. Honestly, I half-expected prices to drop with so many people distracted by the holidays, but we saw some surprisingly strong results. Take the top sale, for example—the Lamborghini went for a solid number, a clear win for the seller. Even the second-highest sale, the F12 Berlinetta, held up well compared to similar cars with similar mileage, despite the usual "thought it’d go for more" chatter in the comments.
Overall, prices were solid across the board. With BaT being the only game in town today and with some big potential sales on the horizon, it'll be interesting to see how those auctions perform. Buyers are sharp and know where to find the opportunities. I’ll be highlighting some key sales and near-misses on Twitter later, so if you’re not already following us, now’s the time.
As for the Pagani auction yesterday, it was a damp squib with no more significant bids. And with no public comments from the high bidder or the seller, could there be an off-platform deal on the cards?
Time to switch of the writing for a few days - certainly not the watching!
Wishing you and your family a Happy Holidays.
I hope to be back on The Daily Vroom duty later this week,
Sam
MARKET LEADERBOARD
💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.
I only include websites that have sold 5+ vehicles in the chart below.

Sale of the Day
This 2010 Audi S4, sold for just $7,300, is hands down one of the most impressive deals I’ve seen recently. With a dyno-verified 477hp, an APR Stage 3 supercharger kit, Bilstein PSS-10 coilovers, and a clean California ownership history, this was a no-reserve auction gem.
On top of its performance upgrades, it’s loaded with luxury: Bang & Olufsen sound, leather and Alcantara seats, and a factory sports differential. The modifications alone likely cost more than the winning bid. Sure, there are a few minor issues—faded headlights, sagging headliner—but at this price, those are easily overlooked.
Navigating through the sheer number of auctions can feel overwhelming, but moments like this remind you why it’s worth staying in the game. For $7,300, this buyer got a car that delivers high performance, great looks, and serious bragging rights. Truly the sale of the week.
Big thanks to the Vroomer community member who sent in this image, labeled by SBX Cars as “Key Criteria for a Successful Auction House.” And before anyone thinks I’m spilling secrets—this was already floating around on social media. I have to say, though, I’m not completely on board with their assessment (you might see things differently), and I’ll get into why below.
Now, as soon as I saw this, a thousand questions popped into my mind. But first, let’s assume the rating system here goes from 1 (not great) to 5 (the best). SBX is still finding its footing, and I’ve been ‘accused’ here before of giving them a bit too much grace. But hey, every new platform deserves some leeway to get established. That said, this chart might be a ‘touch’ optimistic.
Take “Reputation & Trust,” which SBX has rated themselves a solid 4. In my view, that’s a stretch. Supercar Blondie, with her 100 million+ followers, is a true 5 in influence, but she’s not front and center on the auction side. (she should be) This looks more like a “where we hope to be” slide than a reality check.
Auction To Keep An Eye On
I’m not really a Dino guy—but even I can appreciate the beauty here. European-spec, pale blue repaint, and a refreshed interior that fits the classic lines perfectly.
What makes this one fascinating is the backstory. It sold in 2023 for $410K, didn’t meet reserve in July at $365K, and now it’s back. It begs the question—what’s the play? Is the seller just cutting losses, or is there still faith in the market?
To me, it feels like the Dino market isn’t quite as hot as it was. That $410K number might be tough to justify today, especially with some non-original touches here. But hey, it’s a Dino, and they always draw attention. Let’s see if the bidders agree.
