๐Ÿ”ฅ Ferrari Fever: A Deep Dive into July's Sizzling Sales ๐ŸŽ๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿ” PLUS: Unveiling the Verdict on Sotheby's Game-changing Auction Platform..

The Daily Vroom

Greetings Vroomers,

I'm grateful for all the feedback you've given on yesterday's comprehensive post, which delved deeply into July's sales figures. If you haven't had a chance to review it yet, here's the link.

In my post from two days ago, I highlighted the exciting new joint venture auction platform of Sotheby's Motorsport, and included two polls. Many thanks to everyone who participated. Below are the poll results and some selected excerpts from the responses I've received. Will be very interesting to follow how they doโ€ฆ

โ€œIf I won the Mega Million/Power Ball. I don't think I would participate in such a venue. I would prefer to enter auctions where several cars might be purchased considerably low to mid 5 figures. Collector cars are meant to driven. Not stuck away from public viewing.โ€

โ€œI enjoy auction sites that take decent cars of any value so the majority of enthusiast can see something within any price range. โ€

โ€œI most enjoy classic cars, and 1981 and newer, over $100k, just covers a very limited number of models. I wonโ€™t be spending my time or money there. The 1981 and newer turns me off to cars and bids also. Yet I would use them over Sothebys. The biggest benefit imo, is collecting the funds from the buyer. That can be a pain. โ€

MARKET LEADERBOARD

By examining the leaderboard numbers, it's quite evident how significantly Bring A Trailer's performance eclipses that of Cars & Bids and the rest of the competitors.

Only Cars & Bids and BaT offer consistency in terms of transaction volume and successful selling rates. With other platforms, there's always an element of unpredictability about what they will deliver.

However, one might question if BaT and Cars & Bids are satisfied with just being consistent ๐Ÿค” Presumably, both are aiming for increased sales and superior statistics. As the market continues to accommodate new platforms, there's a limit to how much competition it can sustain before smaller entities either decide to exit or merge.

TOP 3 SALES OF THE DAY

Yesterday marked a novel achievement as Hagerty secured a spot in the top three with their sale of the stunning 2005 Ford GT - a hearty congratulations to them.๐Ÿ‘

You'll be familiar with my annoyance regarding their result presentation if you've read my post from a few weeks ago. When I visited their site, the reported sold price was $304,950, inclusive of the premium. However, in my opinion, the 'sold price' should reflect the final bid, which in this case is $285,000. This is consistent with how the rest of the online market displays their sold prices, without incorporating the premium into the displayed sold price.

FERRARI JULY SALES

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš— Burning Rubber with Classic and Modern Ferraris

July was a month of contrasts, with Ferrari enthusiasts snapping up both vintage beauties and modern speedsters.

Total sales: $17.7m

Average sale price: $165,534

In pole position, the 1962 Ferrari 250 Gte (250 GT SWB California Spider) took the ๐Ÿ† top spot. This golden age grand tourer is a testament to Ferrari's timeless allure and a beautiful memory of yesteryears. Joining the old-timers' club, the 1967 Ferrari 330 GTC, 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, and 1996 Ferrari F512 M each brought their unique charm, showcasing Ferrari's evolution across the decades. ๐ŸŽฉ๐ŸŒŸ

On the flip side, the new kids on the block held their ground. The 2019 Ferrari 488 Pista and 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari, symbols of Ferrari's relentless pursuit of innovation and performance, were the stars of the show. With the track-focused 488 Pista and the hybrid hypercar LaFerrari, Ferrari proved that it's still pushing the boundaries of what's possible. ๐Ÿš€๐ŸŒ

Then, there were those that expertly blended the old with the new. The 2005 Ferrari Superamerica and the 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider offered a taste of modern performance, all the while retaining a touch of classic charm. ๐ŸŽญ๐ŸŒ‰

From vintage gems to modern masterpieces, every Ferrari carries a piece of history. And every sale brings a new chapter to that story. Here's to the next chapter! ๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŽ‰

๐Ÿ“Š๐Ÿ”‘ Key Insights and Trends:

  1. ๐Ÿ’ฐ Price Distribution: The prices of Ferraris sold in July range widely, with the majority falling between $100,000 and $200,000. There are several outliers, with some cars being sold for over $600,000!

  2. ๐ŸŽ๏ธ Most Popular Models: The most popular Ferrari models sold in July were the 308, 360, F355, 328, and Testarossa.

  3. ๐ŸŽจ Color Choices: The top three interior colors were Black, Beige/Tan, and Red, while the top three exterior colors were Red, Black, and Yellow. Seems like classic Ferrari red is still a favorite!

  4. ๐Ÿ•น๏ธ Transmission Type: Manual transmissions were more common than automatic transmissions among the Ferraris sold. (more fun to drive!)

  5. ๐Ÿ“ˆ Sales Platform: The majority of Ferraris were sold on Bring A Trailer platform.

  6. ๐Ÿš— Car Age: The distribution of the age of Ferraris at the time of sale is broad, with many cars being over 20 years old. This suggests that older, classic Ferraris are still in high demand.

๐Ÿ“Œ Takeaway Lessons:

For buyers:

  • If you're after a classic Ferrari, prepare for a wide price range. It might be worth keeping an eye on Bring A Trailer platform as it appears to have the most variety.

For sellers:

  • Classic models and manual transmission Ferraris seem to attract more buyers.

  • If your Ferrari has a black, beige/tan, or red interior, or a red, black, or yellow exterior, you might find it easier to sell. (that covers most of them ๐Ÿ˜€ )

Let's dive into the sales performance across various platforms. This colorful pie chart provides a snapshot of the sales distribution among different platforms. At first glance, it's clear that 'Bring A Trailer' and 'Collecting Cars' are leading the pack, claiming the largest slices of the pie.

This visual representation allows us to easily compare the relative sales volume of each platform. It's a vivid illustration of the marketplace's dynamics, highlighting where buyers are most actively purchasing Ferraris.

Most Ferraris were sold at lower price ranges, with fewer cars sold at higher prices. There are also some noticeable peaks in the distribution, which could represent popular models or specific years of manufacture that command higher prices.

The assortment of Ferrari models sold across various platforms is fairly uniform, indicating a wide-ranging interest among buyers. There doesn't appear to be a single model that stands out as a clear favorite among the platforms, suggesting a diverse market with a multitude of preferences.
