Fights in the Comments & Rats in the Engine Bay

PLUS: A paperwork gamble on a C63, a sunroof-delete 911SC frozen in time, and a ‘67 Corvette with more awards than most museums

The Daily Vroom

Good morning Vroomers,

Yesterday was a bumper day—over 200 cars sold across more than 10 platforms, racking up $7.4M in auction sales. Volume was up, dollars were flowing, and the market showed real depth.

Below is a breakdown of the top makes/models by number sold, including average sale prices. No surprise seeing familiar names at the top—but the real story is what’s not there.

As I’ve said before, there’s still a wide-open lane for someone—new or existing—to lock down the #3 spot here in the U.S. market. The current players are way too inconsistent. Each has their excuse. To me they are just that, excuses. They can and should do a lot better.

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.

I only include websites that have sold 5+ vehicles in the chart below.

Sale of the Day

This one had everything - killer spec, clean title and total chaos!

Long Beach Blue over black. Executive Package. One-owner California car. Unmodified. Just 36k miles. On paper, it’s a textbook M2 Comp.

But the auction was pure mayhem. An early $38K bid lit the fuse—accusations of self-bidding, beefs over win records, bidders throwing punches in the comments instead of raising them.

Meanwhile, the seller’s explaining rodent-chewed wires, a dropped tire dent, and a rogue airbag sensor. All fixed. All documented. Didn’t matter. The thread melted down.

Still, when the dust settled, someone walked away with a sharp, no-stories M2C for $41,250. A good deal, and one of the most entertaining auctions we’ve seen in a while. Go read the comments if you have minute or two to spare.

Auctions To Keep An Eye On - Ending Today

Borderline Bargain - Paperwork Pending

A clean, low-mile 507 Edition C63 is rare enough. One that’s unmodified, in a great spec, and listed at no reserve, even better. But this one’s in Canada, and that means the real value depends on one thing: paperwork.

If the seller confirms today that the EPA compliance letter from Mercedes is included, this becomes a serious opportunity for U.S. buyers, likely well below what a comparable U.S.-spec car would cost.

If not? It’s still a great buy, but only if you’re Canadian or planning to keep it north of the border. Otherwise, it’s going to sit, and importing won’t be easy without that letter.

Bottom line: watch the comments closely. The car’s real value hinges on what comes with it.

1983 Porsche 911SC Sunroof-Delete - Time Capsule With a Backstory

Only 16k miles. No sunroof. Still on original paint, original interior, original charm. This 911SC is the rare case where “preserved” isn’t just a sales pitch, it’s the truth.

The backstory checks out. One long-term New Hampshire owner kept it for nearly 40 years, using it less and less as his collection grew. It passed through a collector and Porsche shop before landing with the current seller, who prepped it for use and put a few hundred careful miles on it.

The result is a time-capsule SC that’s not just clean, it’s crisply original. Factory markings still under the car. Leather still supple. Even the tires are era-correct. Add in the rare sunroof delete and it’s easy to see why this is climbing toward six figures.

If you’re shopping for an SC, this one isn’t restored. It’s just still here, almost exactly as it left the showroom in ’83.

Triple-Crowned '67 Corvette L36 - Pedigree, Provenance, and the Right Options

This Elkhart Blue '67 ticks every serious collector box.

Matching-numbers 427/390hp L36, M21 close-ratio 4-speed, body-off restored, and verified with every major award in the Corvette world; Top Flight (twice), Bloomington Gold, MCACN Triple Diamond, and even the Arkus Duntov Mark of Excellence.

It’s not just about trophies. The car’s been driven sparingly since restoration, shows under 20k miles, and comes with full documentation: Protect-O-Plate, original invoice, judging sheets, and a full photo set from the restoration. The color combo is killer, and the factory side-pipe look with Redlines and Rallys is pure showroom spec.

No excuses, no question marks. If you're after one of the best-presented mid-year Corvettes to hit the market this year, this is the one to watch.
