👹 First Cyberbeast Hits The Auction Block

PLUS: 2019 Porsche GT2 RS Clubsport auction: Will the seller be realistic?

The Daily Vroom

Good morning, Vroomers!

A warm welcome to all our new community members. It brings me immense joy to see our family growing. As we approach the end of this month, we're also nearing the conclusion of the first quarter of the year. Thus far, we've witnessed ‘just’ nine sales surpassing the $1 million mark. Interestingly, we haven't breached the $2 million milestone yet. But will April be the game-changer? I'm inclined to believe so. With a plethora of SBX cars in the lineup, coupled with a potentially monumental sale slated for this weekend, the odds are certainly in our favor. Stay tuned as I delve into the details of this exciting upcoming auction tomorrow.

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below.

We've narrowed down to just four platforms on our market leaderboard for yesterday’s sales. The rest are going to have a hard time catching up this week since they lack the listings the top four boast. Yesterday saw the market hitting $6.6 million in sales, pretty much the norm for a weekday.

YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES

Once again, Collecting Cars is flexing its muscle, snagging two of the top 5 cars on the leaderboard. And you know what? It makes perfect sense given the sheer number of luxury cars they handle. At the pinnacle sits an absolute gem—an iconic Ferrari. Sure, Covid-era online auction prices for this model were about $100k higher, but hey, that was the story for most cars back then! It might not be as flashy as some other models, but if you're in the know, you understand its value.

1968 Ferrari 330 GTC $488,000

2009 Ferrari 430 Scuderia 16M $373,200

2018 Porsche 911 (991) GT2 RS Weissach Pack $331,500

2015 Ferrari F12BERLINETTA $257,000

1960 Porsche 356B Roadster $235,000

The First Cyberbeast Hits The Auction Block

I can't believe we're back here again. I kind of made a half-hearted promise that I wouldn't be writing about the Cybertruck again, but there's news to share, and that's what I do, and that's what this Cybertruck brings in spades.

So, I've lost count of the number of Cybertruck listings we've had so far on auction platforms. I think this is it.

Bring a Trailer - sold one for $160k.

Cars & Bids - two listed, both didn’t sell for $145k & $158k.

Live right now:

Cars & Bids - 4 days to go, NO RESERVE. $126,920 is the highest bid.

SBX Cars - 13 days to go, NO RESERVE. $50,000 is the highest bid.

Now, this is where it gets interesting. Sotheby’s Motorsport, who have been continually improving over the last few months, just launched the first Cyberbeast auction at No Reserve, and the bidding is already at $152,000 with 5 days to go. For those asking, here are some of the differences between the regular Cybertrucks and the Cyberbeast:

  • 50% more G-force acceleration

  • 130mph (Cyberbeast) top speed vs 112mph (Cybertruck)

  • 834 tri-motor (Cyberbeast) vs 600hp dual motor (Cybertruck)

  • 0-60 in 2.6 seconds (Beast) vs 3.9 seconds (Cybertruck)

  • 320 mile range (Cybertruck) vs 340 miles (Cyberbeast)

Here’s a pic of the unique stamping of the Cyberbeast.

The price difference is around an extra $20k. Huge kudos to Sotheby’s Motorsport for not only being the first to secure a Cyberbeast, but also for having the balls to list it at No Reserve, which is clearly paying off with 45 bids so far and at over $150k. Can’t wait to see where this one ends up.

Now, I promise (kind of) to have at least a day or two break with no Cybertruck mentions 🤫

Auction of the day

This 2019 Porsche 991.2 GT2 RS Clubsport up for grabs, and let me tell you, it's a real gem. Currently sitting at a high bid of $199,911 with just a few hours left on the clock. This beauty hails from North Saanich, BC, and comes loaded with features that'll make any car enthusiast drool.

Now, before you start crunching numbers, let me fill you in on what makes this ride so special. It's the 76th example produced out of a limited run of 200 units, and it's been treated like royalty since day one. Fresh off the production line in Leipzig, Germany, it made its way to Canada in December 2019, and boy, has it turned heads ever since.

Will it sell? The seller mentioned in the comments section a recent sale for a whopping $575,000. But hold your horses, because that one was a road legal conversion. This bad boy? Well, it's strictly for the track. So, let's hope the seller keeps it real with the price, because trust me, this car is worth its weight in gold!

Alumni Catchup

Below are the top 5 Alumni sales yesterday on BaT. The arrows in the diagram below show whether the vehicle sale has gone down or up in value.

You know how they say the market's taking a nosedive? Well, yesterday's sale of the 2007 Aston Martin DB9 is a glaring exception to that rule. It went for a whopping $107,000, marking a staggering 54% increase from its sale price back in 2018, even with an extra 1000 miles on the odometer. Now, what's the secret sauce driving up this car's value? Honestly, I'm scratching my head here. Sure, it's got relatively low mileage and is in stellar condition, but it's not like it's the holy grail of cars. The kicker? It's a manual transmission. Similar automatic models are going for peanuts compared to this. I bet there are a lot of DB9 owners out there eyeing that price tag and wondering if it's time for an upgrade.

Feedback

Yesterday, as SBX Cars made its debut, we posed the question: 'Do you believe high-end vehicles will be purchased through SBX Cars?'

According to our poll, 56% of you answered with a resounding 'yes.' Here's a glimpse into the diverse range of opinions expressed in the comments section—let's just say, there was no shortage of mixed views!

Amazing Business plan.... well thought out.... amazing Vehicles! I see this as successful from the beginning. Like an Astonishing Puzzle that finally got all the right parts together at the right time!! Terrific interview and introduction Sam!

Just in the sign up process they ask for too much personal Data. Way too much, they will need all that Data once I have made a purchase, just like their competition currently does. I bailed when the info asked for, got uncomfortable. Photo of Gov issued document !! Silly, considering they at a launch for a populated market.

The cars are out of this world. The site is beautiful. The question is not whether people will buy cars as the market has proven that they will buy expensive cars, but whether or not they have the capability to find buyers who have the kind of money for these cars. I’ll be watching not bidding.

Obviously early early days, but they need to think how they can get people commenting, to bring engagement to the site. Also sign up is a bit painful. Good luck to them.

I love the look of the website. With her contacts getting cars will be the simple part. Will the RM Sotheby’s bidders come over and play ball?
