It's raining again here in Los Angeles and it's raining money again when it comes to the sale prices of Ford GT's which are the top two most expensive cars sold yesterday on all the online auction websites. Because of that I decided to have a bit of a deep dive into Ford GT sales this year and see if I can find any specific trends, see below ⬇️ for what I found out.

Bring A Trailer stole the show in yesterday's sales, but is this trend indicative of the overall market this year? We'll dive deeper into this topic in future newsletters.

Interestingly, it seems that there are consistently two Porsche 911s in the top 10 most expensive cars sold every day. Yesterday was no exception, with a 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Anniversary - RUF RCT and a 1985 Porsche 911 Turbo grabbing the spotlight. These two Porsches may be very different, but they both showcase the timeless appeal of the iconic 911.

TWO OF THE BEST PORSCHE'S UP FOR AUCTION

This 2017 Porsche 911 Targa 4S being auctioned on pcarmarket is one sexy beast! It comes in a sleek Graphite Blue Metallic finish with a black roof panel, a silver Targa band, and a wraparound glass rear window. It's got all the bells and whistles, including SportDesign exterior mirrors, painted headlight cleaner covers, and exclusive Platinum Satin finish wheels that'll make you drool. And let's not forget about the Luxor Beige interior featuring 14-way Power Sport Seats and Porsche-crested headrests - oh, baby!

Under the hood, you'll find a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six engine rated at a whopping 420 HP and 368 lb.-ft of torque. This baby can go from 0-60 MPH in as little as 4 seconds, thanks to its 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. Plus, with optional performance features like Power Steering Plus and Rear Axle Steering, you'll be able to maneuver like a boss at any speed.

1982 PORSCHE 911 (930) TURBO

The 1980s was a golden era for Porsche, and the 911 Turbo was the ultimate poster car of the time. With its distinctive styling, unparalleled performance, and legendary racing heritage, the 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo is an icon of automotive history that captures the imagination of car enthusiasts even today. It's a true testament to the timeless appeal of Porsche's engineering and design, and owning one is sure to turn heads and earn you the respect of fellow car enthusiasts.

Who could forget the scene in Top Gun where Tom Cruise's character, Maverick, takes the wheel of a sleek and stylish 1980s Porsche 911 Turbo and tears through the streets of San Diego? The image of Maverick pushing the Porsche to its limits while "Take My Breath Away" blares in the background is etched into the minds of movie and car enthusiasts alike. The 911 Turbo's appearance in the film only adds to its already impressive reputation as a timeless icon of the 1980s, and owning one is sure to make you feel like a true ‘maverick’ on the road. (bad pun, I can do better!)

This beauty boasts a recent full restoration that took the car to the next level. Under the hood, an air-cooled 3.3-litre turbocharged flat-six generates around 296bhp, and it's paired with a four-speed manual transmission.

The Guards Red exterior looks sharp, and the black leather-trimmed interior is a perfect match. This classic ride comes with 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels, Continental Conti-Sport Contact tyres, and plenty of desirable factory features like a sunroof, air conditioning, and a Blaupunkt cassette stereo.

With only four owners from new, the odometer shows a mere 141 Kms, all driven since the car's restoration. And don't worry about any damage or wear and tear – the seller claims there are no noticeable marks or blemishes, except for minor wear on the rear "Turbo" badge and exhaust tips.

The car comes with a spare wheel, tool kit, and a spare drive belt. A recent service was carried out before the present owner took the keys. This Porsche is a head turner, going back to the glory days of the 80's. The car is being auctioned by collectingcars and has 4 days to go. I don't know what the reserve is, but unless it's some crazy price I can't see this not selling.

FORD GT TRENDS GOING UP OR DOWN?

Ford GT prices are often some of the highest prices we see in online auctions. I have specifically only covered online auctions and not the likes of Barrett Jackson, RM Sotheby's etc.. as that is what we concentrate our efforts on here at The Daily Vroom.

Alright folks, let me fill you in with some more juicy details on those sweet car sales. The diagram above which covers the sale prices of the GT's sold in the first 3 months of 2023. The sale prices range from $295,555 all the way through to $1,791,000.

The average sale price of a Ford GT so far in 2023 is $760,050. The trends we've noticed is that although prices are relatively high, they haven't increased or decreased too much in the last 12 months. Even though we don't cover the physical auction houses, I can tell you that none of them have sold a Ford GT in the last year more than the highest price achieved online. Just shows you, that online is where it's at...

So, here's what some further details not outlined in the above diagram. Out of the 11 cars sold, 7 of them went to new owners through Bring A Trailer, 3 were snatched up on PCarMarket, and the remaining one was sold on Cars & Bids. As for transmissions, it seems 7 of the lucky buyers went with the smooth-shifting automatic option. And if you're curious about colors, black was the most popular pick among these discerning car enthusiasts.
