PLUS: Will These Unique Rides Surpass $1 Million Mark?

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc..

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below. Which means Hemmings, PCarMarket and many others did not sell 5 cars on Friday!

Friday marked an unprecedented milestone, shattering all previous records for sales. It was, without a doubt, the most lucrative Friday I've reported on since I started The Daily Vroom. We came tantalizingly close to the $10 million mark, with sales exceeding $9.7 million. This figure is extraordinary for a Friday, which typically sees a slower pace, and is even more impressive in the context of the current market, which some believe is decelerating. ( I don’t)

Leading the pack in high-value sales was Collecting Cars. They made headlines with the sale of a 2004 Porsche Carrera GT for $1 million, alongside two other notable sales among the top five cars of the day.

Interestingly, this sale marks the third Porsche Carrera GT to change hands in recent months. The previous two, both from 2005, fetched $1.3 million on PCarMarket and $1.7 million on Bring a Trailer, respectively. The variation in mileage likely contributed to the differences in their sale prices. On Friday there were 25 six-figure sales between 4 different platforms, which itself is a record for that many large sales in one day!

This past weekend was also very decent, with a solid $6 million in sales from the handful of auction houses that operate over the weekend. It's clear from this momentum that the holiday season isn't putting a damper on the market's energy. In fact, as you'll see in the following rundown, there's a slew of significant potential sales lined up on the horizon

FRIDAY’S TOP 5 SALES

POTENTIAL $1M+ SALES THIS WEEK

Let’s get straight into it!

This 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder, a remarkable example of Porsche's flagship supercar, is a collector's dream with its pristine condition and low mileage. As number 916 out of a limited production of 918 units, this vehicle is already commanding a high bid of $1,100,000, reflecting its rarity and desirability.

Built in 2015, this 918 Spyder boasts a sleek Platinum Silver Metallic finish paired with an Onyx Black leather interior, enhanced by Acid Green piping. Its advanced plug-in hybrid powertrain features a 4.6-liter V8 engine, derived from the RS Spyder Le Mans race car, and two electric motors on the front and rear axles, delivering a combined 875 HP.

This particular car has a rich history, having been originally delivered to Keyes Porsche in California, changing hands in 2020, and later imported to British Columbia. It stands out with OEM Weissach Package enhancements, including carbon fiber rear diffuser side fins and front air outlet inserts.

I could go on and on describing every inch of this beauty. But I’ll leave you to read its description and then watch the end of this auction where I imagine all the action will take place.

This is a real showstopper – the 15-Mile 2021 Ford GT Carbon Series. Currently sitting pretty with a bid of $950,714 and just 2 days left on the clock, this beauty is poised to potentially smash the $1m mark. Last time a similar model hit the auction block, it fetched a cool $976,000 in July. But here's the kicker – that one had 1,400 miles on it. This gem? A mere 15 miles. Talk about barely touched!

Let's dive into what makes this American marvel stand out. It's a premium listing, folks. We're talking a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, a slick 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transaxle, and a stunning Frozen White paint job. The interior? Carbon Alcantara upholstery that screams luxury. And let's not forget the Carbon Series Package – it's the real deal with its orange carbon graphics, 20" gloss carbon-fiber wheels, and those jaw-dropping Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. The Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust, butterfly doors, and retractable active rear wing add to the exclusivity.

PONTIAC GTO SALES ANALYZED

Alright, let's dive into the world of the Pontiac GTO, a true masterpiece in the muscle car arena! These machines aren't just cars; they're a symbol of raw American power, with engines that roar and designs that turn heads. The GTO, affectionately known as the 'Goat', was a game-changer in the 60s and 70s, sparking a revolution in car culture. Imagine this: over its lifespan, including its revival, around 555,550 of these beauties were made. That's a testament to their enduring appeal!

Now, here's a twist. Despite their legendary status and having been produced in such significant numbers, the market for GTOs is oddly subdued. You'd expect these classics to be snapped up left and right, but they're actually selling at a pace of about one every three days. It's a bit puzzling, considering their iconic status. Could it be their rarity in specific models, the unique collector's market dynamics, or just their niche appeal? Whatever the case, the GTO remains a revered icon among those who cherish a blend of historical significance, performance, and undeniable coolness.

Below are some of the key stats over the last 3 months of sales.

The chart shows a wide range of selling prices for Pontiac GTOs, with distinct peaks indicating popular price points where sales were concentrated. There is a notable frequency of sales in certain mid-price ranges, as these are the most commonly agreed upon values for these vehicles during the September to December period. Lower frequencies at the extreme high and low ends of the price spectrum shows fewer transactions for very expensive or very inexpensive GTOs.

The stats show that if you want to buy a GTO, Bring a Trailer is your best bet. Why is no-one else consistently selling them?

If you’re looking to come away with a clear trend from the sales over the last month, you’ll be disappointed. The sales timeline chart for Pontiac GTOs from shows a fluctuating market with no clear trend towards either increasing or decreasing prices over the selected period. The sale prices vary significantly from one transaction to another, reflecting the individual characteristics of each car, such as model year, condition, and originality, which heavily influence the value of classic vehicles like the GTO.

Not a real surprise that the ‘69 is the most popular sale. It’s got that killer Ram Air engine and the Judge package – it’s like the king of muscle cars. It’s not just a car, it’s a legend on wheels.

It's always intriguing to delve into the trends and patterns of car sales, especially when you break it down by days of the week. It's particularly curious to notice how Thursdays seem to stand out for the Pontiac GTO market. What's the deal with Thursdays, anyway? Why do we see such a noticeable dip in GTO sales on this specific day?
