Post Holiday Auctions: Boom or Bust?

PLUS: Why I'm keeping my eye on this 911 Speedster..

The Daily Vroom

Hey Vroomers,

Today’s edition is a quick one—short on words but not short on action. With many platforms taking a breather, the auction scene might feel quieter, but if you’re anything like me, glued to your screen, you’ll know the excitement doesn’t stop. There’s still plenty happening, with loads of auctions to watch and bids flying in. As you’ll see below, there are plenty of bargains, but also people still paying top dollar even during the holiday period.

Have a great weekend & see you Monday,

Sam

Sale of the Day

Selling during the holidays isn’t exactly prime time to get top dollar, but after a quick look at the data, it’s clear that while there were a few bargains, plenty of cars still went for solid money. One that stood out to me was this 2000 Volkswagen EuroVan MV. It sold for $3,800 in a no-reserve auction, and honestly, it felt like a win at the lower end of the market.

Why highlight this one? Because it’s not always about the big-ticket cars. This EuroVan is just cool—super versatile with fold-flat seats, a table, privacy curtains, and a tow package. It’s basically the ultimate adventure van. Throw in the VR6 engine and a clean Carfax, and you’ve got a lot of potential for the money.

Sure, it’s got its quirks—some rust, a few dings, and some warning lights—but for under $4K. This thing is ready to haul gear, hit the road, or just be that quirky conversation starter at Cars & Coffee. Whoever snagged it got a solid deal.

Auctions To Keep An Eye On

Continuing with the no-reserve theme, this 1991 BMW 535i is a standout. The E34 is getting more popular lately, blending old-school BMW charm with timeless design, and this one nails the vibe. Finished in Granite Silver Metallic with a 5-speed manual, it’s got some cool mods—Hamann wheels, X5 interior touches, and a limited-slip diff.

It’s not perfect—there’s a cracked bumper and worn leather—but it’s a driver’s car, not a garage queen. It’s a fun, budget-friendly way to grab an E34 while they’re still within reach.

If you’re a Speedster fan like me, this 151-mile 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster is pure perfection. Let’s face it, the 991 Speedster is one of Porsche’s best modern hits—naturally aspirated flat-six, six-speed manual, and enough heritage touches to make you feel like you’re part of something special.

This one, finished in GT Silver Metallic with the Heritage Design Package, has all the right details. The shorter windshield, carbon-fiber humps, and those Cognac bucket seats? It’s Porsche flexing their mastery of blending nostalgia with performance. And with only 151 miles, it’s basically brand new. Can’t wait to see where this ends up.

Let’s finish with this 2022 Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae—the final bow for Lamborghini’s V12 legend. Only 350 of these were made, and this one, in Rosso Efesto, looks absolutely stunning. The carbon fiber accents, staggered forged wheels, and Pirellis are just the cherry on top.

Packing 780 horsepower from the biggest naturally aspirated V12 Lamborghini’s ever built, it’s pure theater on wheels. Loud, fast, and dripping with presence—this car doesn’t just turn heads, it snaps necks. Inside, it’s all luxury and tech, with the Sensonum sound system and even a Telemetry System if you feel like tracking your stats. Another one that I’ll be keeping a close eye on.
