🚀 Lamborghini Sales Hit A Milestone

PLUS: Results are in on this '08 Merc SLR McLaren Roadster & it's not good 😬

The Daily Vroom

A massive shoutout to all the new faces in our community! So thrilled to have you on board. 🌟

Now, before we hit the gas and dive into the world of Lambos, I've got a tiny favor to ask. If you're loving The Daily Vroom vibes, why not spread the joy? Pass it on to a buddy, a colleague, or any fellow car buff you know. 🚗💨 Just send them over to thedailyvroom.com That's it, plea made! 🙏✨

(yes I’ve gone a little to emoji crazy into today’s issues, will dial it back for tomorrow!)

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc.. All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below. Which means Hagerty and many others did not sell 5 cars yesterday!

With MLK Day behind us, marking the end of the holiday season, it's time for business as usual. Platforms need to ramp up, bringing more listings and sales to the table. January is typically a quieter month in the auction world, but yesterday bucked the trend, hitting a high note with over 140 vehicle sales. The total sales volume nearly reached $6 million.

I'm currently wrapping up an annual analysis of Cars & Bids 2023 sales, and from what I've observed with my 👀 - though I'll need to crunch the numbers to confirm - they're increasingly featuring higher-end listings. While the $10k, $20k, and $30k sales remain their staple and for the rest of the market, this emerging trend towards increasing premium offerings is certainly something to keep an eye on.

YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES

Alright, let's dive into yesterday's top sales. Just click on the image, and boom, you're right at the listing.

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Weissach $435,000

2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale $363,313

1991 Lamborghini Diablo $305,000

2023 Porsche 911 GT3 MR $280,000

1997 Porsche 993 Turbo $250,000

2023 Lamborghini Sales

If you haven’t seen the news, Lamborghini just hit a massive milestone! 🥁 Drum roll, please... They've sold a whopping 10,112 vehicles worldwide in 2023! 🌍💥 It's a historic moment for them, breaking into the five-figure territory for the first time ever. And guess what? Out of those, exactly 3,000 found homes here in the US! 🇺🇸

Now, hold your horses, because these aren't your everyday car sale figures. Remember, we're talking luxury here, not your typical Toyota churning out 6,000 cars a day in the States. 🚗💨 To put this into perspective, in their first 30 years, Lamborghini produced just 8,000 vehicles in total. Yep, the luxury market is a whole different beast! 🌟

This got me thinking 🤔💡: How many Lambos did our online auction platforms sell last year, and who were the big players? So, I put on my detective hat 🕵️‍♂️ and dove into the data. Here's the scoop on what I uncovered... 📊👀

Summer vibes really do fuel the desire for fast cars, and the sales data backs this up! As we all know, when the sun's out, the speed demons come out to play, and this was crystal clear with sales hitting top gear in August. 🌞🚗💨

Taking a deeper dive into the numbers, it's fascinating to see how they align. November and August didn't just bring in the most sales; they also revved up the highest sales volumes. It's like everyone's saying, "Let's make the most of these sunny days with some high-speed fun!" 📈🔥🏎️

Below you can see that the big global three, BaT, Collecting Cars and Cars & Bids dominated the sales.

Intriguingly, Cars & Bids managed to edge out its competitors by clinching the top spot for the highest average sale prices throughout the year. This impressive feat highlights their ability to challenge BaT in a highly competitive market. And as you’ll see below, they sealed 3 of the top 4 spots in the most expensive Lamborghini’s sold.

To all the OG’s, remember those early days when I used to drop those ‘killer’ infographics? Well, brace yourselves because I'm bringing it back for what might be a one-time revival! 🚀 It's a bit of a task to put these together, so consider this a special edition for those special occasions. 🌟👀 Let's dive back into those times, just for a bit! 🕒

Quick Catchup

Last week, I pointed out that 10k-Mile 2008 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Roadster on BaT as possibly one of the least appealing premium listings I've come across. Pegged as a potential $400k+ gem, it managed to fetch $277k, which honestly, was a tad more than I anticipated but still a far cry from its true potential.

This just drives home a crucial point: the way these cars are showcased is nearly as critical as their actual condition. Had this been a regular SLR sale handled by a pro seller, we'd likely be telling a different tale. Yet, the eight previous owners and the absence of records or any meaningful interaction from the dealer just sank its prospects. 😩

Clearly, this dealer was out of his depth with a car of this caliber. Will be interesting to follow what happens next. Should I hear anything, you’ll be the first to know.
