LETS TALK FERRARI'S

Oh boy, let's talk Ferraris! In tFebruary & March, the online auction market for these beauties has been on fire! And if we look at the top 10 Ferrari sales during this time, you won't be surprised to know that all but one were sold on Bring a Trailer (BaT).

The 1972 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Coupe snatched the top spot with  the highest price of $755,000.

But hold your horses, there's more to the story. Out of the total 98 Ferraris sold since February 1st, BaT has managed to sell 49, while Collecting Cars sold 39. It's a close race, but who will come out on top in the long-term.

Let's get down to the nitty-gritty and check out the average selling price of these Ferraris on each platform. Who knows, we might uncover some juicy details about the buyer preferences and market trends. So, let's roll up our sleeves and dive deep into the numbers!

In terms of sale prices, BaT have the majority of their sales over $100k, whilst Collecting Cars have the majority less than $100k.

However both their fee structures are a lot different, especially once you factor in the exchange rate.

Collecting Cars take 7.2% of the sale price at a max of £7,200 ($8,970) whilst BaT take 5% of the sale price at a max of $5,000. That is a big difference.

Could BaT increase their fees and still sell the same volume?

Collecting Car buyers (mostly European) don’t seem to have a problem with the higher fees. It’s one to watch in the near future.

UNIQUE & SPECIAL CARS UP FOR AUCTION

1956 Bentley S1 Saloon by H J Mulliner being sold in an auction:

Intro: The 1956 Bentley S1 Saloon by H J Mulliner is a rare and luxurious car, believed to be one of just 27 Mulliner-built four-door saloons. It features sharp styling, a sumptuous interior, and has undergone recent mechanical work, including an overhaul of the braking system.

Features:

• First registered in 1956, ordered by Jackson the Tailors in Newcastle-upon-Tyne

• Rare H J Mulliner coachbuilt body designed by Herbert Nye, believed to be one of 27 examples fitted to the ‘Series A’ S1 chassis

• Road Tax and MOT exempt, with UK V5C and non-transferable registration number

• Recently detailed interior with new headlining and retrimmed front seats

• 4,887cc straight-six engine with automatic transmission, over £5,000 spent on brake overhaul and new engine/gearbox mounts

• Rare semaphore trafficators specified by the original owner, as opposed to more conventional flashing indicators

• Smart maroon paintwork with bright chrome, featuring a winged ‘B’ mascot with a mounting point for an ambassadorial flag

Other details:

• Five former keepers, some limited service history on file, photocopies of handwritten service records, and original build sheets on file

• The car has reportedly been abroad for some time and has private locks, meaning the chauffeur can only lock the car from the passenger side

• Steel wheels with color-matched hubcaps, a recently fitted matching set of Avon tires, and a fully carpeted boot with a full-size spare wheel and its own matching cover

With its impeccable history, stylish exterior, luxurious interior, and recent mechanical work, the 1956 Bentley S1 Saloon by H J Mulliner is a truly magnificent motorcar that any discerning collector would be proud to own.

This 2018 Lagonda Taraf is a rare find, being one of only 60 units made by Aston Martin during four years of production and one of just seven built for the 2018 model year.

The car was ordered by the current owner from a German distributor and imported to the US under a “show or display” exemption. It has been modified by J.K. Technologies in Baltimore to comply with US EPA requirements. Featuring a carbon-fiber body finished in Satin Jet Black, it has a 5.9-liter V12 engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transaxle. Here are the key features and other details:

History:

• One of only 60 units made by Aston Martin during four years of production

• One of just seven built for the 2018 model year

• Imported to the US under a “show or display” exemption

• Modified by J.K. Technologies in Baltimore to comply with US EPA requirements

Features:

• Carbon-fiber body finished in Satin Jet Black

• Slotted and ventilated disc brakes with red calipers

• NHSTA “show or display” paperwork, importation documents, and invoices from J.K. Technologies included

• Factory build documentation and renderings, a Lagonda-branded umbrella, an owner’s manual, and a clean Carfax report also included

• Clean Oregon title listing the car as a 2018 Aston Martin

• Total cost of factory options, importation, and certification invoices is over $120k

This Lagonda Taraf is a remarkable super saloon with a unique history and rare features. With its exquisite design, luxurious interiors, and powerful V12 engine, this car set to fetch a record price in the auction, with current bids already over $500,000!!
