Now, without further ado, let's dive into today's news and analysis.

MARKET LEADERBOARD

Hey, guess what? We've got a fresh face on the leaderboard today - PCarMarket. They're making some waves, having sold 4 Porsches and a tractor just yesterday. To give you a gist, they managed to sell 42 vehicles in June, with 29 of them being Porsches. They racked up close to $3m in sales, averaging around $71k per vehicle.

They've been tinkering around with their website to better the user experience - a move I'm all for. But, let's be real, they've still got a bit of work ahead to level up their site. They're not quite there yet with the heavy-hitters like Cars & Bids and Bring A Trailer. Just like the others, they're steady with their daily listings, pushing out about 8 cars a day. But let's be honest, they've gotta bump those numbers up if they want to rub shoulders with the big dogs at the top of the leaderboard.

Bring A Trailer finally brought up their sale number from the mid-50’s the previous 2 days to 81 yesterday. Their total $ of sales yesterday sits pretty at $3.5m.

Cars & Bids didn’t quite hit the highs of the last 7 days of sales with 21 sold cars at still an impressive 85% sell through rate. Today they do have one of their ‘guarantee’ sellers the 2022 Rivian R1S (their Rivian sell-through rate is ridiculously high).

Collecting Cars & Car & Classic are fighting it out daily to see who can sell the most cars. Although they are both based in the 🇬🇧 they generally serve two very different markets. Collecting Cars have had a rough times of late with a low sell-through rate. Can they bounce back to a consistent 50%+ sell- through rate?

HAGERTY

Many of you know Hagerty as the Insurance company for the collector car industry. But did you know that these Midwestern insurance folks are making serious waves, gobbling up everything from physical car auctions (BroadArrow) to car storage clubs in major cities. Over the last few years they've gone on an acquisition spree, buying up big events and even a handful of tech companies. Their goal? To take over the classic car universe, from auctions and events to data and storage, they've got their hands in everything.

Hagerty's got this Midas touch. Everything they dip their fingers into turns to gold Remember when they kicked off their own auction platform, Hagerty Marketplace, a couple of months back? Yeah, you might not recall it from our cha cause their figures aren't anything flashy... yet.

In this short span, they've sold around $2.4m worth of cars. That's 71 sales, or roughly one car a day, at an average price of about $35k per car. Not too shabby, right? They're still in the shallow end of the market, but considering their winning streak, I'm wondering if they're gonna strike it big here too.

Think about it: they've got the brand, the exposure, probably the tech and the expertise. It's looking like a recipe for success, right? So I won't be surprised if they start throwing punches 🥊 with the big guns pretty soon. Give it a year, and we might see them rubbing shoulders with the big dogs.

Below is a breakdown of the Makes they’ve sold thus far. It’s real interesting to see which makes they’ve done best with, probably not the ones I would have guessed.

You reckon Hagerty's got the juice to become a big shot in this market?

Top Three Sales Of The Day

2002 BMW M3

So, yesterday was all about BMW, leading the pack in sales across all platforms, with Porsche and Chevy chasing close behind. This made me curious about which models were the hot sellers, and boom, the M3 is right there at the top. Instead of getting into all the M3 years, I've decided to zero in on my personal fav, the 2002 edition.

The platforms that sold these cars were Bring A Trailer, Collecting Cars & Cars & Bids.
