I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below. Which means Hagerty, PCarMarket and many others did not sell 5 cars yesterday!

🚀 After Monday's sky-high sales records, today's auctions brought us back to terra firma. Still, an impressive $6.5M in vehicles changed hands, with a hefty $4.5M of that revving up from BaT sales alone. 🏎️💨

1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429: A Timeless American Icon 🇺🇸🐎

💰 Sold: $337,000

An interesting point to note, is that if you have a good car, even if the photo’s aren’t an 8/10, you still have a great chance to sell it. Here the photo’s are at best 6/10 and it sold.

When we talk about classic American muscle, the Mustang Boss 429 undoubtedly sits at the apex. This 1969 model encapsulates everything that's thrilling about the era's automotive prowess.

Under the Hood: The heart of this beast is the legendary 429ci Cobra Jet Boss V8. With a factory-rated output of 375 horsepower, it's a symphony of raw power and engineering finesse. 🚀

Exterior & Features: Dressed in an impeccable Wimbledon White, it exudes a classic charm, complemented by its distinctive Boss 429 badging, assertive hood scoop, and those unmistakable dual exhausts. The 15" Magnum 500-style wheels, mounted with Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, further accentuate its stance.

Interiors: The inside is as tantalizing as the outside. The cabin boasts high-back front bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl, color-keyed carpets, and simulated woodgrain appliqués. It's a blend of luxury and raw, untamed power.

Provenance: The Boss 429 was birthed to homologate the 429 engine for NASCAR. Kar Kraft of Brighton, Michigan, was entrusted with its production, and each model was serialized. This particular beauty was assigned the number 1758. With only about 850 of these produced, it's genuinely a rare gem.

Mileage: The odometer reads a modest 6k miles. Given the car's age, that's relatively low, indicating a well-preserved machine.

Final Thoughts: With its sale price of $337,000 yesterday, the Boss 429's value is a testament to its iconic status in the automotive world. In my opinion, this isn't just a car; it's a piece of American history, a symbol of a time when horsepower and design worked in harmony. For any collector or enthusiast, this is more than an acquisition; it's an heirloom. 🌟🔥

The Gist: Bask in the glory of this magnificent Vignale-designed 2+2 Italian GT, a symphony of luxury and performance. With only 305 of its kind ever roaring the streets, this beauty hails from an exclusive lineage. 📜✨

REVENUE 💰

Last week, I posed a question through our community poll: Are you all in for a deep dive into the nitty-gritty of automotive industry revenue? 🚗💰 The response was a resounding yes!

So, buckle up, because today, I've rolled up my sleeves to analyze one of the industry titans – Bring A Trailer.

In this edition, we're zooming into their revenue for October 2023. While it's just a snapshot of a single month, it offers a revealing window into their annual financial trajectory.

By extrapolating from this month's data, we can get a sneak peek into their potential yearly revenue, shedding light on the platform's fiscal dynamics. Dive in as we navigate the numbers and uncover the secrets behind the stats! 📊✨

📌 Important Note: All fees showcased pertain solely to vehicle sales, setting aside memorabilia, artwork, and the like.

🚀 Deep Dive Insight: In our recent analysis of "Bring A Trailer's" October revenue, a staggering $3.8m (rounded) emerged on the radar. Diving deeper, it's vital to grasp that this sum envelops the standard listing fees of $99.

And not every listed car crosses the finish line. For clarity, we've anchored our math on an average sell-through rate of 80%. This implies we've buffered in an estimated 20% of cars that stayed parked without a sale, assimilating their listing fees into our grand total. 🧮

What We Didn't Count: Our figures don't veer into the lanes of premium listings or any elite offerings that Bring A Trailer might dangle, given the fog around public data. So, strap in and adjust your mirrors: the actual revenue might zip past our numbers, even if just by a tad.

💸 Breaking Down the Numbers:

  • Big Picture: A whopping $3.8M revved up this October thus far. Eager to trace its trails?

  • High Rollers: An impressive 180 deals roared to the maximum buyer's fee cap of $5,000, signaling a parade of luxury transactions.

  • Bread and Butter: A robust count of 1,812 sales hummed below this cap.

  • Economical Edge: A notable 71 sales made do with a buyer's fee of just $250.

  • Across the Board: The average fee parked at around $1,787.50.

📊 For those who relish a visual spin, the chart below sketches the varied fee landscapes and their sales patterns. Dive in for a panoramic view of the platform's fiscal journey this October.

  • The gold bar represents the 180 sales that hit the maximum buyer's fee cap of $5,000.

  • The light coral bar indicates the 1,812 sales that were below this cap.

  • The light blue bar signifies the 71 sales that incurred the minimum buyer's fee of $250.

The histogram above provides an in-depth look into the distribution of buyer's fees, specifically excluding the capped ($5,000) and minimum ($250) fees. The most frequent fee range lies between $500 to $2,500, indicating that a significant portion of sales are in the $10,000 to $50,000 price range (given the 5% fee rate).

The scatter plot illustrates the correlation between the number of sales per day and the total buyer's fees collected each day. Days with a higher number of sales tend to generate more revenue in buyer's fees, which is expected. However, there are also days where fewer sales have still generated considerable revenue, indicating the sale of high-value cars on those days. (see day chart below)

The line chart displays the cumulative revenue from buyer's fees throughout October. As the month progresses, we can observe a steady rise in cumulative revenue. The chart gives a clear view of the revenue accumulation trend over time, which can be particularly insightful for understanding the platform's financial trajectory.

The bar chart showcases the top 5 car makes by revenue generated from buyer's fees in October. It provides a clear indication of which brands contribute the most to the platform's revenue.

The bar chart displays the top 5 car models by revenue generated from buyer's fees in October, with two Ford models amongst the top 5. Did you have that down as some of their top revenue generators?

📰 For the long-term followers of The Daily Vroom, you'll recall my penchant for the days-of-the-week chart—it's a classic I can't resist showcasing whenever I can!

The bar chart visualizes the revenue from buyer's fees for each day of the week in October 2023. As seen, Tuesday stands out as the day with the highest revenue, while Saturday has the lowest.
