The Daily Vroom
Good morning Vroomers!
This week’s been anything but ordinary here at The Daily Vroom.
We kicked things off with a look at the economic uncertainty hanging over the market — and whether it’s already starting to drag prices. Then came our full deep dive on the tariffs, complete with that quick-and-dirty Tariff Calculator we spun up for you.
Right after we pushed it live, the news broke: a 90-day tariff pause. And like clockwork, confusion followed. Just to clear it up — that pause doesn’t touch the car tariffs we outlined. It’s aimed at general goods. The auto-specific rates under Annex III? Still very much in effect. So yes, everything in our breakdown (and the calculator) still holds. (right now!)
Then yesterday, we dropped our exclusive interview with the new CEO of Cars & Bids — and a lot of you loved it. Especially the hints he gave about what’s coming next.
Speaking of C&B, if you're on their list, you probably saw Doug’s Q1 market update hit your inbox yesterday — a new initiative from their side. And honestly, I like it. Whether you're a Doug fan or not, he's built an undeniable audience — and this kind of direct communication is exactly what he should be doing. Hopefully, it's just the beginning.

MARKET LEADERBOARD
💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.
I only include websites that have sold 5+ vehicles in the chart below.

YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES
Over $8M in sales yesterday — and six-figure cars were flying.
Collecting Cars claimed the top five spots, with SOMO not far behind. Serious money’s still moving in this market…

Sale of the Day
You don’t need to squint to see the value here.
A Le Mans Blue over Caramel E39 M5. 6-speed. V8. California-owned from new. Sold for $20K.
That's not just a great buy — that’s a time machine back to pre-pandemic pricing, especially for one of the most beloved analog sports sedans ever built.
Let’s break this down.
This M5 had 156k miles, so yes, it’s been used — but the fundamentals were strong. The drivetrain? Reportedly solid. The seller answered questions quickly and clearly. A previous owner even chimed in with a multi-post saga of his years maintaining it with a Porsche tech. The community were engaged, honest, and overwhelmingly impressed by the spec and price.
And about that spec: Le Mans Blue over Caramel Nappa, Style 65s, heated seats, LSD, clean Carfax, no accidents, no glaring mechanical issues. A rare combo that many commenters called “unicorn-level” — and yet, it still flew under the radar.
There were flaws — worn trim, dead pixels, cosmetic aging — but nothing unexpected at this mileage. In fact, multiple bidders said the car was ready to be daily driven today, with the perfect blend of usability and upside.
Most telling of all? The buyer, beat out a crowd of seasoned M5 enthusiasts. This was no fluke. It was a smart buy in a market that’s starting to reward buyers who can see past cosmetic wear and focus on substance.

Auctions Ending Today To Keep An Eye On
Designo Silver over green Nappa leather. Curly maple trim. 5.4L V8. 71k miles. Clean Carfax. And as of now — sitting at $6,500.
This W210 E55 isn’t just rare. It’s weird in the best way. The spec screams early 2000s AMG drama, and you’re not likely to see another like it anytime soon.
Yes, it needs some love — faded lenses, sagging headliner, and an SRS light. But for the money? It’s a total vibe. This is the kind of car you buy, tidy up, and flex everywhere from Radwood to weekend runs.
A $300K+ build. 710 horsepower. Supercharged Coyote. Carbon-fiber driveshaft. JL Audio. Apple CarPlay. Alcantara headliner. Finished in Jet Black Metallic with silver stripes and exactly zero chill.
This Revology-built Shelby GT500 is the kind of car you spec when you want the past to punch the future in the face.
But scroll the comments and you’d think someone listed a salvage-title Foxbody.
Is the speedometer strong enough to survive getting pinned?
What’s the MPG?
Why not a 6-speed?
Can I get a Carfax… on a 1967 VIN?
Every question more dramatic than the last — and the seller's batting them away like a pro. One commenter said it best: "Some of the commenting seems a bit supercharged too." No kidding. (but that’s the good and bad of BaT).
This thing is all business, and the final 5 minutes are shaping up to be pure entertainment.
Only 7 bids. Sitting at $22K. And somehow, this 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup is slipping through the cracks.
Which is wild — because it’s got everything you want in a 70-Series:
Legendary 4.2L diesel inline-six
Proper 5-speed manual
Real 4WD with a 2-speed transfer case
Dual fuel tanks, a snorkel, a 2-inch lift
That 2023 face swap gives it just the right attitude
And it’s titled in the U.S. — no import headache
So what’s the hold-up?
Maybe it’s the missing VIN plates from restoration. Maybe people are wary of registering a diesel in their state. Maybe it’s just flying too far under the radar. Either way, this is the kind of truck you stash for 20 years and watch become unobtanium as Doug would say!
Honestly... I’m tempted myself.
If the reserve is even remotely sane, someone’s walking away with the kind of machine most buyers won’t even know they missed. Because once these trucks catch fire here — they will — this won't happen again.
