The Daily Vroom

Good morning, Vroomers!

Welcome to another week filled with incredible auctions galore! I might have gotten a bit carried away with the number of auctions I've highlighted this time around, but believe me, I had to trim down quite a bit just to keep this update manageable.

I’m truly grateful for all the emails packed with suggestions and ideas for TDV—keep sending them my way! And if you're enjoying what you see, why not spread the word? Share us with a friend or colleague by directing them to thedailyvroom.com to sign up.

Top 5 Friday & Saturday Sales

Some truly spectacular sales this round, each with its own unique tale. Take the 2024 Porsche 911 Dakar that fetched a whopping $360,000—the buyer didn't even know he had won until after the auction closed, as there hadn't been a single bid in the last five days. And yet, it still soared $100k over its sticker price. Incredible!

2024 Porsche 911 Dakar $360,000

Ex–Tiger Woods 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo $250,000

2023 Porsche 911 Dakar $243,400

2017 Lamborghini Aventador LP740-4 S $228,000

1993 Porsche 911 RS America $171,911

BMW Sales

I often receive requests to spotlight more affordable cars, so I decided to explore which brands sell well at reasonable prices. BMW frequently appeared in my search. Focusing on the theme of Friday and Saturday sales, I took a closer look at which BMW models moved off the lot on these days. Here are the findings from that weekend's sales.

Just glancing at a few of these transactions, the highest sale—a BMW M5—offers quite a lot for 'just' $58k. Also, when examining the E46 M3 market, it's evident that prices have generally dipped by about 7-10% from last year. This suggests there are some real bargains out there for those who are patient enough to look.

Alumni Catchup

Below are the top 5 Alumni sales Friday & Saturday. The arrows in the diagram below show whether the vehicle sale has gone down or up in value.

Alumni cars generally perform a bit better in sales compared to standard auction listings. As many of us recognize, Porsches not only retain their value but often appreciate, even through the inflated prices we saw during the COVID era.

Take the '93 Porsche 911 RS, for example, which sold on Friday for $21k more than its last sale in 2022. This car not only offers one of the best seating experiences but also delivers a fantastic drive. If this car hits the auction block again in 2026, I wouldn't be surprised if it fetches around $200k.

Audi RS Avant Fun!

Life should definitely lean more towards fun, which is exactly what driving any car should offer. The comment below gave me a good laugh, as did the response. Nowadays, there's really no excuse to miss the end of an auction—unless you happen to be at the North Pole!

The auction they were referring to was this Audi RS6 Avant. So if I were to respond to VolvoguyKC I might say.

‘Hey @VolvoguyKC, if you are reading The Daily Vroom, you know that weekends are where the auction action really is AND, you will now know that there is another equally (possibly even more) stunning white RS6 with less that 700 miles on it. Here's your chance... If anyone knows @VolvoguyKC, feel free to remind him that with The Daily Vroom in his inbox he won't need to worry about missing the next listing for an Audi RS6 wagon or Volvo 240 with a 5 speed supercharged Mustang engine conversion (like Paul Newman and David Letterman had) that comes up, weekend or not...’

or perhaps

Hey @VolvoguyKC, it is your lucky week. Next Tuesday there will be an even more special RS6 Avant for sale. If you are the lucky bidder who wins one of these auctions at SOMO, you could let us know that you are now unavailable for the weekends because you are spending every weekend tearing up the roads of Kansas, or Missouri (or both) in your new RS6 Avant. Let us know which one you choose! In the meantime, I googled some great drives in your area and found this resource (https://www.petersonlawfirm.com/blog/top-10-scenic-drives-near-kansas-city-peterson-amp-associates-p-c-.cfm). Maybe we should schedule a Daily Vroom meetup there soon!

Spotlight On Auctions Ending Today

A fully sorted 500E that is claimed to be "corrosion free" after a small corrosion repair. This car was originally in the Northeast (CT, MA and RI) and seems to have spent some time near the shore, however, it seems to have been well cared for.

These were prone to rust, so any mention of corrosion makes you wonder. Photos seem very clear and a corrosion repair is claimed to have been small and fully addressed. Bidding has been light as of the weekend, but it is likely that this will pick up a lot near the close of the auction. This could be a great find and, with decent mileage already, can be driven regularly without concern about adding miles to the odometer.

Can't decide between the RS4 and the 500E? Here is the hybrid of those choices. These 500Es and RS2s were the coolest collabs, before Tik Tok and Instagram were even a concept. These were the OG influencer cars to own and, to this day, these AudiXPorsche and MercedesXPorsche collabs are some of the coolest combinations of 4 and 5 door Porsche models ever built. It only took 30 years for the rest of the marketing world to catch up to what the cool kids were doing in the early 90s.

It is nice to see a clean, low mileage 930 coupe on Cars & Bids. Presented well with nice clear photos and detail shots, this car presents as a car that was collector owned and has receipts to show that it was pampered at no-expense spared. Colors are interesting, with a black exterior and tan seats with black carpets and dash. It works and the seats really seem to pop.

Alumni listing - This car started out as a really nice example. It was purchased in a prior auction and has been turned into a stellar looking, seemingly better than new, re-creation. If you are looking for an early, long wheelbase 911S Targa, this would be a great one to look at. It seems that every detail of this car has been painstakingly looked at.

If you are looking for something that seems to be restored with as much attention to detail, but you are looking for something a bit older, more open air and slightly less sporting, you may be torn between the prior listing of a 911S and this gorgeous 190sl.

Either one would make a spectacular addition to a garage and could fulfill a lifetime of open air retro dreams. Which one would you choose?

Here we have a great driver and a potential bargain 964.

First off, this color combination is amazing. The main photos in the listing seem to have been taken in the shade and don't really highlight this shade of green. Some newer photos were submitted to help.

This car has previous collision damage, reportedly from being bumped by a delivery truck. Given how hard this color is to capture in photographs, it is difficult to determine the quality of the repair in online photos. Seller has many records from long term ownership and seems to be forthcoming with information and records. This will never be a low mileage fully original car, but it can be a great find to enjoy for many years. Listed at no reserve, this car should be going to a new garage this week.

This listing was originally listed, in error, as a no reserve listing and was updated by BaT. If it had run as a no reserve listing, I think the seller would have been VERY disappointed.

I am not sure what the reserve is on this listing, but the flaws that are shown and documented are not small and it is a shame to see such a regal ride, that has clearly been stored and looked after, look so rough around the edges.

Seller claims that interior wood looks fine, but the photos tell a different story. Apologies for a zip tie holding on the wiper in a photo are included with a comment that "I’m sure it probably just needs a new wiper. The wiper arm looks good."

Paint work details that are shown look like there were prior repairs done poorly, or may be a sign of greater neglect. This is a car that could have benefitted from some presale prep and clean up and probably should have been listed through an experienced seller or BaT partner.

Personally, I would have loved to have seen Larry at AMMONYC detail the hell out of this car and show the before and after videos in the listing. At a reasonable price, this could be a great project to spruce up and enjoy. It will all come down to how reasonable the seller is with their reserve.

Eyeing this 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring, it's hard not to get swept up in its sheer magnetism. Clad in Racing Yellow, it’s not just bright—it’s brilliant. The sleek lines and aggressive stance are enough to make any enthusiast's heart skip a beat. With under a thousand miles logged, this machine is more than just a car; it’s a barely-tamed bolt of lightning, ready to electrify every journey. It's a perfect blend of high-performance engineering and understated luxury, making it as fit for the racetrack as it is for a spontaneous night out. This GT3 doesn’t just move—it mesmerizes.

What an incredible mid-1970's time capsule. This beast has clearly been stored away and cherished for decades. Given the mileage and Michigan final assembly and delivery, this car may have never left the state of Michigan in its life.

Looking at this sinister beast, it is amazing that seemingly only 10 540i Sports were spec'd in this configuration. V8 powered manual transmission wagons are an incredible thing. Usually they are meant to blend in with subtle colors, others are painted in unique colors to draw attention, this one seems perfect in its simplicity.

Need to carry more than a wagon or tow your other toys, but you want to do it with power and style? Well look no further than this listing. Although the interior color is listed as black, those seats look pretty white to me. White seats are usually not for me, but this car seems to pull it off.

Here is a later model Tesla Roadster located in Copenhagen. If a Tesla Roadster sighting is rare in the US or the UK, one has to imagine that Denmark can't have too many of these. This one has a new battery installed by Tesla that is upgraded and still under warranty.
