MARKET ANALYSIS

Yesterday’s Sell-Through Rate

Just yesterday, we posed a question about showcasing sell-through rates in our newsletter. The response we received was overwhelming - it set a new record for our polls! Your collective enthusiasm is clear: you're excited to delve into the figures!😀 So, without further ado, let's dive right into the numbers below and satisfy your curiosity!

As I've mentioned before in this newsletter, there are certain websites that choose to withhold information about the cars they didn't sell, only focusing on the positive aspects.

Personally, I believe in transparency and think they should provide a complete picture. Unfortunately, this makes it challenging for the average person to determine their actual sell-through rate.

But fear not! I'm here to bring you the unfiltered and comprehensive sell-through rate numbers, ensuring you have access to the complete picture. 😀

Bring A Trailer rocked the highest sell-through rate of 72%, with Cars & Bids not far behind at 70%. Hemmings were at the bottom of the pack with a sell-through rate of just 28%.

Other Sites??

I've been getting a bunch of requests to dig into more auction websites, not just the usual suspects I cover most days.

Here's the deal. I do check out ALL the other websites, but their sales numbers just don't stack up to the big guns, so I don't usually bring them up here.

One site that might pique your interest is the MB Market - it's a goldmine for Mercedes sales. It's a solid site, and I know a lot of you Mercedes enthusiasts are big fans of what they're doing over there.

However sales are not there YET. In June so far, they have listed 26 cars for sale and have sold 13 of them. Their top sale was $23,000.

Would you like me to cover smaller sites sales such as MB Market?

Top Three Sales Of The Day

1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 $415,000 - Bring A Trailer

1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS $263,000 - Bring A Trailer

2019 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet $174,000 - Bring A Trailer

JUNE MUSTANG SALES

This month saw an exciting array of Mustangs on the auction block across various platforms. The average selling price across all Mustangs sold was $50,316, indicating a healthy and dynamic market for these iconic vehicles.

The highest sold Mustang this month was a 1967 Shelby Mustang GT350 Fastback, selling for a whopping $207,000 on Bring a Trailer. On the other end of the spectrum, an affordable 1983 Ford Mustang GLX Convertible went for just $5,000 on Auto Hunter.

It's clear to see that Mustangs cater to all sorts of car enthusiasts, offering everything from vintage classics to today's high-powered models, all at a variety of price points.

On average, two to three Mustangs are sold per day in online auctions. Considering the high production volumes of Mustangs over the years, this daily sale rate might seem insignificant at first. However, the enduring demand for these iconic cars, reflected in their daily sales, speaks to their timeless appeal and enduring popularity among collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Below is a selection of some of the main models that have been sold in June thus far.

WHICH AUCTION SITE ARE THESE CYBERTRUCK’S HEADING TO? 😀

SALE OF THE DAY

🚗 '61k-Kilometer RoW 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6

Sold for a jaw-dropping $415,000 on BaT, this beauty isn't just a car, it's a piece of art that rumbled through a nerve-wracking auction. The bidding was so intense it even went 45 minutes over time, but let's get into why this car is worth all the fuss.

Exterior 🎨

The car sports a sleek Midnight Blue Metallic paint job (L39C) that perfectly complements its widened bodywork - a distinctive feature of the 964 Turbo. It's equipped with aerodynamic side mirrors, a fixed rear spoiler, a power sunroof, a rear window wiper, and fog lights. What completes the look are the polished 18" three-piece Speedline wheels, giving it an undeniable charm.

Interior 🏁

Stepping inside, you'll find yourself in a world of luxury. The seats, dashboard, door panels, and even the sun visors are wrapped in sumptuous Matador Red special leather (MD). Carbon-fiber trim adorns the dashboard, center console, and handbrake lever, lending an air of modern elegance. The car also comes with a Porsche Classic head unit, power windows, and air conditioning, ensuring both comfort and convenience.

Under the Hood 🛠

This car doesn't just look good - it's got the power to back it up. Its turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine was factory-rated at 355 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle, and it recently had an oil change along with the alternator belt and air filter replaced.

After analyzing all these aspects, it's not surprising to see why this car stirred up such a fierce bidding war. It's not just a car, but an embodiment of luxury, performance, and the spirit of the iconic Porsche brand.

NEARLY SALE OF THE DAY

🏁 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 S Cabriolet 🏁

Bidding for this bold and powerful 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 S Cabriolet closed recently with a high bid of $52,513. This luxury convertible has clocked 26,000 miles, with the current seller adding around 12,500 miles since acquiring it in February 2021.

🔧 Engine & Performance 🔧

This C63 S Cabriolet boasts a muscular 4.0L Twin-Turbocharged V8 engine, producing a mighty 503 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, managed by a 7-speed automatic transmission. Notably, this car is one of the last V8 C-Class models, as Mercedes announced no future production of this variant.

🎨 Design & Features 🎨

The exterior is finished in a unique Designo Cashmere White Magno color, paired with a red pepper and black interior. The car features a black soft top, ideal for enjoying sunny drives. It comes packed with several impressive packages: AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package 2, Premium 3, AMG Night, and Parking Assist packages. Additional notable equipment includes a power-operated soft top, Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and carbon fiber interior trim. The only reported modification is window tinting.

💰 Market Comparison 💰

The car originally retailed at an MSRP of $101,630. Interestingly, a model of the same kind fetched $61,000 on the same site a year ago. Are we seeing a decrease in the market value??
