Porsche GT3 & Alfa Romeo Sales Analysed
PLUS: Why didn't this Dodge Sell on BaT?
The Daily Vroom
Happy Monday Vroomers! Itโs 11.04pm here in Los Angeles and Iโve just come home from a wedding where I probably drank one too many. So please excuse the odd spelling mistake. Luckily for me, I planned ahead of time and all research below was done before the wedding!
Anyways, enough about my night. Iโve had a lot of requests in the past week to analyse a variety of different models that were sold last month, so today Iโve looked at two stellar European makes Porsche ๐ฉ๐ช and Alfa Romeo ๐ฎ๐น.
Here's what we've got for you today:

NEARLY SALE OF THE DAY
๐ 1957 Dodge D100 Stepside Pickup - bid to $30,250
๐ต This stepside pickup shines with a two-tone coral and white finish, offering a vibrant nod to its era.
๐ง Powered by a 315ci V8 engine, mated to a unique push-button three-speed automatic transmission.
๐จ The truck reportedly underwent a paint refurbishment under a previous ownership, adding to its visual charm.
๐ Rolling on chrome 15" wire wheels wrapped in 225/75 BFGoodrich Silvertown whitewall tires.
๐ง Subsequent maintenance work reportedly included replacement of the water pump and the brake master cylinder.
๐บ Inside, you're greeted with a color-coordinated coral and white bench seat, and black carpeting providing a stark contrast.
๐ป Amenities include power steering, cabin heating, a glove compartment, and a classic Motorola transistor radio.
๐ The five-digit odometer shows 99k miles, with less than 600 of those miles added by the current owner.
๐ ๏ธ Despite its charm, the truck does have noted leaks from the power steering and rear axle.
From my perspective, it seems that this 1957 Dodge D100 didn't sell for a few reasons.
Firstly, the lack of a driving video might have made potential buyers a bit cautious. A driving video allows bidders to see the vehicle in action, and its absence could raise doubts about the truck's performance or condition. Secondly, the leaks from the power steering and rear axle, though potentially minor, could also discourage some bidders. Lastly, while the truck does have a beautiful finish and a number of attractive features, the market for vintage pickups can be unpredictable. What do you think?

On the other hand, the most affordable Alfa Romeo sold /was the 1992 Alfa Romeo 75 1.6 LE Mans, which was auctioned for $4,400. This model is a testament to the brand's commitment to offering affordable sportiness and Italian design flair.
Interestingly, the 2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio appeared twice on the list, with prices of $44,400 and $41,750. This reflects the ongoing demand for recent models that balance modern technology with Alfa Romeo's storied performance heritage.
๐ Historical Performance of Alfa Romeo ๐
Founded in 1910, Alfa Romeo has a long history of producing stylish, performance-oriented vehicles. The brand's models have evolved over time, with particular highlights during the 1960s and 1970s with cars like the Giulia and GTV, which remain popular among enthusiasts.
The sales in reflect the consistent appreciation for Alfa Romeo models across different eras, from the classic 1949 6C 2500 Super Sport Cabriolet to the modern 2018 Giulia Quadrifoglio.

PORSCHE GT3โS APRIL SALES
๐ Porsche GT3 Auction Summary - April 2023 ๐
In April's auction, a total of 15 high-performance Porsche models changed hands.
๐ฅ The highest sold GT3 was placed for the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Shark Werks 4.1, sold at a substantial $338,000 on Bring a Trailer. This model is an aftermarket tuned variant by Shark Werks, noted for its increased engine displacement and high-performance modifications.
๐ฅ Second place went to the 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 Touring which fetched $295,000, also on Bring a Trailer. The GT3 Touring offers the high-performance characteristics of the GT3 model with a more subdued and less track-focused appearance. Its high price reflects its recent model year and the ongoing demand for high-performance Porsches with manual transmissions.
๐ฅ The 2018 Porsche 911 (991.2) GT3 Touring took the third spot, selling for $270,667 on Collecting Cars. This model represents a balance between daily drivability and track-ready performance, which is highly sought after by Porsche enthusiasts.
๐ Further Insights & Auction Sites ๐
The list includes models auctioned only from two different online platforms: Bring a Trailer and Collecting Cars. No other websites sold any during live auctions in April.
The majority of the cars (12 out of 15) were auctioned on Bring a Trailer, while the remaining three were sold on Collecting Cars.
Interestingly, despite the rise of dual-clutch transmissions in performance cars, many of the top-selling Porsche models, including the top two, featured manual transmissions. This suggests a continuing demand among enthusiasts for the engagement and control provided by manual gearboxes.
The 911 GT3 and GT3 RS models are particularly popular, with various iterations from different years being represented. These models are known for their track-oriented performance and typically hold their value well in the used market.
On the lower end of the price spectrum, a 2006 Porsche 911 (997) GT3 was sold for $83,500 on Collecting Cars. Despite its age, the 997 GT3 is still a highly regarded sports car, combining a high-revving naturally aspirated engine with sharp handling characteristics.
Overall, the strong sales in this auction reflect the enduring appeal of Porsche's high-performance models, especially the 911 GT3 and GT3 RS. As we look to the future, I anticipate a continued strong market for these iconic sports cars. ๐๐.
