Will This GT3 RS Prove Cars & Bids Can Still Play at the Top?

PLUS: Top Models Sold In February

The Daily Vroom

Good morning, Vroomers!

Appreciate all the recent feedback. If you have any questions, suggestions, or thoughts, just hit reply—I’m always happy to hear from you.

Last week saw a jump in sales, up $2.5M from the previous week. A total of $34.5M changed hands across all online platforms. Here’s how those sales broke down by price point:

Top February Models

It's always interesting to dive into the data to see what cars are selling, on which platforms, and at what prices. When analyzing last week's sales, it's no surprise that the top-selling model is the Porsche 911, accounting for 7.88% of all sales across online auction platforms. Interestingly, I didn't have the Chevrolet Corvette on my bingo card as the number 2 selling model.

With BaT being the largest seller of Porsche 911s, let’s break down the average selling price week by week for February. Of course, this is just one piece of the puzzle—prices vary widely depending on factors like model, spec, and rarity. Just look at the spread last month: on one end, an Oak Green Metallic 2024 Porsche 911 Dakar sold for $345,000, while on the other end, a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet 6-Speed went for $21,750.

Auctions To Keep An Eye On

Now this is how a proper 911 GT3 RS should look. A 2011 997.2, drenched in Grey Black with Guards Red accents, sitting on PCCBs, and packing a high-revving 3.8L flat-six. No fluff, no gimmicks—just raw, mechanical brilliance.

At 17,700 miles, it’s been driven just enough to stay sharp, and aside from a center exhaust pipe and clear bumper reflectors, it’s as stock as they come. It’s a U.S.-spec car currently in Canada, with a clean title despite a theft recovery in 2011. No damage, no insurance claim—just a quick detour in its history.

But here’s what really matters: this is the last Metzger-engine GT3 RS before Porsche went 4.0L. The last one with hydraulic steering. The last one that’s still relatively attainable before values climb even higher. The 997.2 GT3 RS has cemented itself as a modern legend, and for good reason.

Now, let’s talk about Cars & Bids. No six-figure sales last week. They’ve moved plenty before, but after everything that’s gone down recently, they need to prove they can still handle big-money cars. And this - this is one of the best chances they’ll get. Let’s see if they make it count.

Lancia and Zagato—two names that defined lightweight Italian elegance. This 1959 Lancia Appia GTE Berlinetta Zagato is one of just 368 built, and only 51 with these streamlined headlights still exist.

Restored between 2014 and 2020, it’s fitted with a Bosato-spec engine and a five-speed gearbox for a more engaging drive, but the fully rebuilt original engine and gearbox come with the sale—giving you both modern usability and factory-correct collectibility.

At just 800 kg, it embodies the Zagato philosophy: sleek, aerodynamic, and beautifully minimalist inside and out. With impeccable presentation and extensive period documentation, this is a rare chance to own one of the most elegant Lancias ever made.

Now this is the kind of GTA that makes Alfa guys stop mid-sentence. A ‘65 Giulia Sprint GTA—proper aluminum-bodied, Autodelta-developed, homologation special. The real deal.

It started life in France, raced through the ‘70s, spent years in Japan, and just landed in the U.S. this year. Somewhere along the way, the original 1.6L made way for a 1.75L twin-plug setup with dual Webers—exactly the kind of period upgrade you want to see. It’s got the right stance, the right parts, and the right kind of history.

It’s not some over-restored showpiece. It’s an honest, battle-worn GTA that looks like it’s got stories to tell—and a few more left to write. The bid’s climbing, and for good reason.
