MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc..

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below. Which means Hagerty, PCarMarket and many others did not sell 5 cars yesterday!

For the regulars of The Daily Vroom, you know our Monday drill: it's usually the quieter sales day of the week. True to form, yesterday was mellow, with auction sales hitting $5.4m. While not shabby, it's a more relaxed pace. We witnessed ten sales surpassing the $100k mark across platforms and an average sale price hovering around $38k. As highlighted above, the sell-through rates have been more promising. But hey, today’s a fresh start, and I'm anticipating a surge. Forever wearing my optimist's hat!

VROOMY SALE OF THE DAY

Strap in because today we're diving into the details of a car that's just raced its way into the heart of a lucky bidder for a whopping $550k!

Link to auction here.

Meet the iconic 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe: not just any Porsche, but one of only 345 ever crafted. With only 15,500 miles under its belt, this black beauty is a pristine slice of automotive history.

Why all the fuss, you ask? Well, imagine cruising with every inch of your interior lavishly draped in leather. Talk about luxury! 🖤

Under the bonnet, it houses a beastly 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged flat-6 engine. No doubt, this car was built to impress both in aesthetics and performance.

Trivia Time: This model signifies the pinnacle era of air-cooled Porsches, making it a must-have for serious collectors.

DECADES ON DISPLAY

While a single day of sales can't capture the entire market's pulse, there's a certain thrill in glimpsing what transpired just yesterday. My go-to snapshot? Pinpointing the most popular decade and year from yesterday's sales.

Above, you can see the charts depicting the sales trends across decades. The 1990s clearly stood out as the favored decade among buyers. Delving deeper, 1997 was the standout year. Cars from this year spanned a wide price range: from a more modest Mr. Bean Mini Cooper that found a new owner for $6,000 to the luxurious Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe, which commanded a whopping $550,000 at auction.

FLIP OF THE DAY

This 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible 3LZ 70th Anniversary Edition sold $176,000 yesterday.

This automotive masterpiece had barely touched the road with just 8 miles on its odometer. Cloaked in a lustrous White Pearl Metallic Paint, its aesthetics are further amplified by a luxurious interior, draped in Ceramic White & Black Leather Upholstery. But it's not just about looks; under the hood lies a beastly 5.5-Liter LT6 V8 engine, primed to unleash a staggering 670 horsepower. With features such as 20" & 21" Forged Wheels, a Power-Retractable Hardtop, and advanced Magnetic Selective Ride Control, it's a perfect blend of luxury and performance.

Steering into the ongoing debate 🐘: There's a faction patiently waiting, refusing to shell out more than the MSRP. Contrastingly, there are aficionados ready to dig deeper into their pockets, even if it means going $30k over MSRP. Is this trend tipping the scales of fairness? It's a contentious topic. Are sellers amplifying the market hype by auctioning these marvels? Perhaps. But let's not forget, it's the very essence of market dynamics. We've seen it across industries - when there's a fervor for early access, people are willing to pay the price.

After all, value is in the eye of the beholder, right? 🤷

FORD MUSTANG SALES LAST WEEK

Ford Mustang Sales: A Week in Review

I've captured the essence of these sales using a boxplot to represent the spread of sales prices across different platforms.

  • Bring A Trailer: Standing out in terms of volume, Mustangs here predominantly traded hands between $20,000 and $45,000, with some even exceeding $60,000.

  • Cars And Bids: This platform showcased sales mostly concentrated between $20,000 and $35,000.

  • Hemmings: With a broad audience in mind, Hemmings witnessed sales primarily in the $15,000 to $35,000 range.

  • Collecting Cars: This platform saw Mustangs fetching prices from approximately $21,000, stretching up to $50,000, catering to a diverse set of buyers.

Below are the top 10 sales color coded with the platform they were sold on.

Distribution of Ford Mustang Model Years:

  • Not too surprisingly the 1965 model was the most frequently sold last week with a total of 7 sales.

  • Other notable years include 2017 and 2022 with 2 sales each.

Ford Mustang Price Analysis: A Closer Look

Analyzing the price distribution, we can observe the following:

  • Frequency Distribution: The histogram showcases how Mustangs are priced, with most sales clustering around a specific range, hinting at a popular price bracket for both buyers and sellers.

  • Average Price: The average sale price for Ford Mustangs last week was approximately $40,713. Represented by the red dashed line in our chart, this value gives potential sellers a benchmark to gauge the market rate and helps buyers ensure they're getting a fair deal.

  • Median Price: The median price, which stands at approximately $31,750, is depicted by the green dashed line. As the middle value of all sales prices, this metric provides a more stable reference point, being resistant to extremely high or low prices.

I’m of the belief that Ford Mustangs are so timeless because they seamlessly blend iconic design, raw power, and a rich legacy that resonates across generations & will continue to do so. ( 3 words of two letters to end, nice!)
