Rare Finds and Hot Flips: Inside Yesterday’s Biggest Sales

The Daily Vroom

Hey Vroomers!

What a day in the online auction world—yesterday was buzzing! Some of those quieter platforms finally woke up and moved some metal, and SBX even managed to pull off a sale with a potential follow-up today. Feels like we’ve stepped into a parallel universe where anything can happen.

Catch you tomorrow,

Sam

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.

I only include websites that have sold 5+ vehicles in the chart below.

You’re not imagining it—we’ve got a nearly full market leaderboard for the first time in ages! Yesterday was something else, with over $9 million in sales. One particular sale on BaT has stirred up a lot of chatter, and my inbox is overflowing with messages about it. I’m hoping to dive into the details tomorrow once we’ve got a clearer picture, but for now, let’s just say it’s causing quite the stir.

YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES

Leading the pack yesterday was this jaw-dropping 2022 Ford GT Carbon Series, which hammered down at $900,000. Cue the usual chorus of ‘too cheap’ whispers that seem to follow every big sale like this. But let’s pump the brakes for a second—did it really go too cheap? Sure, it’s not fetching those 2022 price tags anymore, but when you look at the mileage and compare it to similar sales, this one feels about right. If I had to call it, I’d say it’s a 55-45 win for the buyer, but it’s closer than the chatter would have you believe. Also I would check out the buyers other wins, this was his 36th! he certainly likes Bertone!

Up next is this first auction sale of the 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto worldwide made a splash, going for $706,200. This seller squeezed some joy out of those 1,904 miles and flipped it for what looks like a tidy profit. With its wild hybrid V12 setup pumping out 1,001 bhp and that show-stopping Viola Pasifae finish, it’s no surprise this new-age Lambo turned heads and brought in serious cash.

The other sale I wanna highlight is the 2003 BMW Z8 might just be the collector’s jackpot—Topaz Blue over Crema with only 1,700 miles, and it’s got all the right stuff: books, phone, clean history, the whole package. It's one of only 138 in this setup, and these are not getting any cheaper. The $413,000 price tag reflects a market that knows what it’s worth. Not exactly bargain territory, but for what this car is—low miles, the right spec—it’s a sharp buy for someone who appreciates what a Z8 truly represents.

I was going to leave it like that, but how can I not speak about the 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Coupe that sold for $240,000, meticulously presented by one of the best. Restored with over $200k invested, including a rebuilt V8 and a remanufactured transmission, this car’s history and condition are stellar. It’s rare to find one of these in such immaculate shape, especially with European-spec details, luxurious black leather, and the silver-gray finish that just pops. For anyone who appreciates classic Mercedes elegance with all the right touches, this one checks every box and then some.

Special Car Of The Day

This 1925 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Tourer isn’t just another classic—it’s got a unique story that adds layers to its charm. With a meticulous restoration that transformed it from a Barker Pullman limousine into this stunning barrel-sided tourer, it’s easily one of the best I’ve seen this year. The attention to detail, the craftsmanship, and the car’s incredible presence make it a standout. It’s a perfect blend of elegance and history, and you can feel the weight of its past in every curve and polished surface.

Potential Flip Of The Day

In this ‘soft’ market, we're still seeing daily cars being flipped, and here’s a perfect example. This 2024 Mercedes-Benz G500 Final Edition is being positioned for a quick turnaround. With just delivery miles and every possible bell and whistle, the seller is clearly aiming to cash in on its rarity and luxury. It’s all about finding the right moment and buyer, and this one checks all the boxes for a prime flip candidate in today’s market.

Project Car Of The Day

This No Reserve 1972 Datsun 240Z Project screams potential and is just waiting for someone to bring it back to life. With original details like the metal fan shroud still intact—rare for a car of this age—it’s got the right bones for a complete restoration. The engine bay is a nostalgia trip, reminding us of simpler times when you could short the solenoid with a screwdriver to get it running. Sure, it needs everything, but it’s all there, making it a solid project for someone ready to roll up their sleeves.
