APRIL 13TH SALES
Thursday seems to be (I need to analyse the data) the day when the most expensive cars of the week get sold. We had three $500,000+ cars sold in one day and on one website! Bring A Trailer bringing the heat๐ฅ
With 120+ sales yesterday across 10+ websites, the clear market leader was yet again Bring A Trailer with 72 sales. Their nearest, and I say nearest in the broadest sense of term was Cars & Bids who sold 23 cars.
What is it going to take for any company to get close to the volume of BaT?
For those of you that have never heard or seen the Lexus LFA this rare gem in the automotive world is a symphony of luxury, power, and finesse. This Japanese masterpiece, both sophisticated and playful, invites you to indulge in an unforgettable driving experience that will leave you breathless, yet yearning for more.
This was a NO RESERVE sale and in my opinion an absolute STEAL.
Following on from yesterday's post where we saw the interesting competitive landscape in the U.K., I thought I'd follow up and show you some daily stats from the three main U.K. websites.
A point I left off yesterdays post, is that according to my latest information, Collecting Cars are the only one of the three who want to 'break into' the US market, whilst the other two are more than content with the U.K. & Europe. Based on that little tidbit of information, I cannot wait to see how these three or maybe two (see below) will continue to compete.
Volume wise the numbers do seem close. However when you delve a little deeper, which I always love doing, Collecting Cars had 50% of their sales with car values at well over $50,000. Car & Classic only sold one car, the 1964 Amphicar 770 for over $50,000.
As for The Market, they also only sold one car, the 2001 Rolls-Royce Corniche for over $50,000. My hunch is that The Market is not going to be a long-term competitor for either Collecting Cars or Car & Classic.
As always, I'll be keeping a close eye on the friendly competition between the three. As of now of the three U.K. companies, Collecting Cars are the closest to competing with market leader Bring A Trailer in terms of bringing in the ๐ฐ.
