MARKET ANALYSIS

Above are the websites that sold the most amount of cars yesterday.

Bring A Trailer for the third day in a row sold 72 vehicles. Considering how many they are selling, their reserve price is extremely decent!

Collecting Cars experienced quite a varied day. On a positive note, their average sale price soared impressively high. However, a flip side to this was the fact that they could only successfully sell 31% of their listed vehicles.

Cars & Bids almost achieved the coveted benchmark of daily 30 car sales, falling short by just one vehicle. Their average selling price aligns with their typical figures observed over the past few months.

As for Car & Classic, this UK platform consistently manages to sell between 10-20 cars on a daily basis. Generally, the vehicles sold via this platform are considered to be in the lower-end segment of the car market.

*for those that ask, I have analysed the sales number for all other sites, but they consistently don’t sell anywhere near the numbers that the above four do.

NEARLY SALE OF THE DAY

Rather than me explain in detail about this Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, I’ll let Doug take it away!

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is an excellent starting point for a camper conversion, and this example boasts a desirable configuration. It's a high-roof, long-wheelbase 3500 model with dual rear wheels, 4-wheel-drive, AND the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 – it's spacious, it surprisingly capable off-road, and it boasts a muscular 325 lb-ft of torque. This Sprinter has also been turned into a home away from home with a sink, a stove, a bed, and even a shower – and it boasts some fantastic equipment like a roof rack with solar panels that can power your accessories off the grid. This Sprinter also touts reasonable mileage for a van built to criss-cross the country – and it has been owned in warm-weather California and Arizona since new.

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 4x4 auction ended without meeting the reserve price. πŸ›‘ Let's delve into what might have influenced this outcome.

🏦 Well, first up, we might have a case of sky-high expectationsβ€”the reserve price! πŸ“ˆ Could it be more exclusive than a backstage pass to a sold-out gig? The bidders seemed to think so!

πŸš‘ Then we have our friend, the Carfax report, spilling the beans about some past hiccups β€” a teeny-tiny front-end kerfuffle from 2020. 🚧 "Minor," it said, but the bidders might've needed a tad more convincing.

πŸ’„ And, oh boy, the Sprinter showed up to the party with some beauty marks. 🩹 Chips, scuffs, a dent or two, and some underbody rusting. After all, a little character never hurt anybody, right?

🎨 Lastly, let's not forget about the makeover momentβ€”a freshly painted hood! Could it have been a cover-up or just a little nip and tuck? The bidders might have been left pondering.

πŸ˜‰ But hey, it's not all somber news here! Our hopeful seller is rolling up his sleeves, ready to wheel and deal with the highest bidder. So, let's watch this space and see if a sweet deal is just around the corner! 🀝

SALES OF THE DAY

The Stunning 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL! πŸŽ‰

Yesterday a gleaming 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL, barely broken in with 1,900 miles on the odometer, sold for a jaw-dropping $156,000! Now, that might be pocket change for some of us (cough, cough we wish!), but it's a possible world record for this model. Talk about cruising in style! πŸŽπŸ’¨

✨ A Star Is Born... In the '80s! ✨

Now, before we jump into the deets, let's set the scene. It was the '80s. Shoulder pads were in, Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, and Mercedes-Benz was introducing the now-iconic 560SL as part of its R107 series. It quickly became the darling of the decade with its blend of luxury, performance, and undeniable style. Now, fast-forward to 2023, and one of these beauties has just made a grand entrance (and exit) that could rewrite the record books!

πŸš€ Let's Talk Speed and Style πŸš€

This star car was originally delivered to David Ertley, Inc. in Kingston, Pennsylvania. It stayed in the original owner's hands until 2023 when it was snapped up by a dealer. This car isn't just about its Diamond Blue Metallic paint and blue leather upholstery; it's about the journey, the wind in your hair, and the V8 purr from the 5.5-liter engine. The four-speed automatic transmission, limited-slip differential, dark blue soft top, removable hardtop, and those shiny 15β€³ Gullideckel alloy wheels are not just features; they are statements of speed and elegance! 🌟

⚑ It's Not Just About Looking Good; It's About Feeling Good ⚑

Keeping in the spirit of Mercedes-Benz, this 1987 560SL isn't just about good looks. It's also about the joy of the ride. With a Becker AM/FM/cassette stereo, electric windows, cruise control, and automatic climate control, this roadster is all about the comfort.

πŸ”§ Keeping the Classics Alive πŸ”§

This baby isn't all original, though. It's had a little nip and tuck, with a new battery and tires, a fresh fuel injection system cleaning, and an oil change. Plus, it got a makeover with a paint correction and new ceramic coating in April 2023, leaving it looking as stunning as the day it rolled off the assembly line.

πŸš€ Ready, Set, Zoom: The 2003 Saleen S7! πŸš€

A pristine 2003 Saleen S7 has just roared off the auction block for a mind-blowing $675,000 yesterday! Just when you thought things couldn't get any racier, this beautiful beast proves us all wrong. So, let's take a trip down memory lane, and explore this majestic motor in all its glory! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

✨ Born of Speed and Style ✨

Buckle in as we travel back to the early 2000s. The era of Britney Spears, The Matrix, and, of course, the birth of the Saleen S7. Unveiled at the 2000 Monterey Historic Races, the S7 was the first fully ground-up creation from Saleen, the company started by the legendary Steve Saleen in 1983. Saleen teamed up with Hidden Creek Industries and the UK's Ray Mallock Limited to craft this piece of automotive art. πŸŽ¨πŸš€

🏁 The Devil's in the Details 🏁

This speed demon's journey has taken it through Florida, Indiana, and Arizona. It even found a home in Paul Walker and Roger Rodas' AE Performance Collection before it was scooped up by the seller in 2016. Beneath its shiny silver carbon-fiber bodywork and functional gill-shaped ducting, a mid-mounted 7.0-liter V8 roars, sending a chill down the spine of any true car enthusiast. The black leather upholstery and touchscreen Kenwood CD player make it as luxurious inside as it is menacing on the outside. πŸ’₯πŸ”₯

⚑ A Symphony of Power and Precision ⚑

The Saleen S7's power is not just about the beastly engine. It's also about the six-speed manual transaxle, the limited-slip differential, and the independent coilover suspension. The steel space frame with honeycomb panels and aluminum honeycomb impact-absorbing structures is an engineering marvel, proving that beauty can be more than skin deep. πŸ†πŸ”§

🌟 Born to Perform 🌟

This car isn't just for cruising down boulevards and turning heads. It's a true performer, with Brembo slotted and ventilated disc brakes with Saleen-branded six-piston calipers, staggered-dimension center-lock wheels, and a dry-sump lubrication with dual oil coolers. This S7 doesn't just drive - it dominates, and the 1,800 miles on its odometer are a testament to its prowess. πŸ‘‘πŸš€

πŸ“œ A Chapter in Automotive History πŸ“œ

What's a classic without a story? This S7 has its tales to tell. It spent time in the AE Performance Collection, owned by Paul Walker and Roger Rodas, and now it carries on its legacy with a new owner.
