The Daily Vroom

Good morning, Vroomers!

Good news for PCarMarket who came back online today. Hopefully for them that’s the last of their server issues.

Tomorrow we have a special edition of The Daily Vroom.

See you then,

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below.

Yesterday, we saw a significantly higher sell-through rate for the top two, with BaT returning to its usual numbers. The overall market average sale price dipped slightly from $39k on Monday to $35k yesterday. This drop is also evident in the total sales of $5.7m, which is below average for a typical Tuesday. There were some big sales that didn't make it over the line.

The Value of Community Insight: Why This 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Touring Didn't Sell

This 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Touring didn't sell, with the high bid reaching $305,000. My take on this might be a bit different, so hear me out. Recently, we've had a few articles about the comment section and the polarity it brings. However, an auction like this showcases just how valuable the peanut gallery is to prospective buyers. Do you get this at Mecum or Barrett-Jackson? No chance. And for the price you pay here (fees), it's a bargain.

The BaT platform is incredibly beneficial to buyers because it allows the community to challenge a particular vehicle and determine its authenticity. It's then up to the seller to defend their position. In this particular case, there were too many questions left unanswered. These are some of the many unanswered questions

Additionally, the lack of comments from the seller in response to the feedback obviously had a negative effect as well, leaving potential buyers with unresolved concerns. That’s why it’s so important for the seller to interact with their auctions, it’s crazy not to.

The car, a beautifully restored 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Touring finished in Light Yellow, is one of only 1,580 examples produced and has a storied history, including a refurbishment around 2010.

Some Special & Interesting Cars Up For Auction This Week (and a book!)

OK, when was the last time that you saw a Vector for sale? The comments section on this one does not disappoint. VIN #001, Saudi ownership, one of 17. If you have been waiting to own your poster car, this might be your only chance...

This 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena has me drooling! That classic Rosso Corsa red over the beige interior is an iconic color combo that never goes out of style. But the real party piece is that glorious gated 6-speed manual - just thinking about ripping through the gears with that metal gate has me itching to get behind the wheel.

Skip the 2-3 year wait and bring this stunning Rod Emory creation home this week. Every detail of this unique build has been thought through and carefully executed. Rod's builds are truly better than new. These could quite possibly be the ultimate 356s.

This single family owned treasure was owned by the Beddor family (Frank Beddor Jr. was the founder of the Quattro Club USA / Audi Club of North America. Photos, documents, import and service records from day one are provided. The seller (a family member) has the BaT handle RUFyellowbird, and the family has a long and notable history building, owning and racing unique RUFs as well. If you weren't born into a family that was obsessed with high performance racing and German engineering, this is your chance to own a true masterpiece.

OK, so if the Beddor car above is already out of your price range, this could be a reasonable alternative. Here it is, featured on Swedish television if you happen to speak Swedish. https://www.tv2.no/broom/her-kom-en-helt-unik-bil-ut-pa-auksjon/15683263/

This E55 with a unique color and ownership history in Luxembourg and Sweden may end up being a bargain priced daily driver. Of all the E class cars that I have driven (and there have been many) this particular configuration is probably my favorite. The one we used to have was affectionately called The Velvet Hammer in our household. Plenty of power and a visceral feel that is usually dialed out of most Mercedes made this early AMG hot rod extra special.

Now this 2022 Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS "50 Years Porsche Design" edition is an absolute showstopper! That blacked-out exterior with those gorgeous platinum accents is giving me all kinds of sinister vibes in the best way possible. What really sends it over the top for me though is that it's rocking the ultra-rare 7-speed manual gearbox.

Woodies were usually convertibles or wagons. This hardtop stands out from the crowd, but still looks the part with a contrasting roof. It seems that hardtops were an unusual choice when new, but the right buyer may find a great buy on this unusual icon.

This 1963 Mercedes-Benz 220SE Cabriolet is an absolute time capsule! That stunning blue metallic over burgundy leather interior is giving me all the classic vintage vibes. But what really gets me going is the level of detail and quality in the recent restoration by the legends at Hilton & Moss. We're talking a staggering £65,000 invested over two years to bring this W111 back to concours condition.

Some interesting choices have been made in the restoration of this partially completed 1959 Coupe DeVille. This no reserve icon could provide a great platform to create anything your creative mind can dream up, or to bring back to a more stock look.

You know that I always love wagons. Most of them have 2x the four cylinders of this particular vehicle, but a clean time capsule Toyota from a reputable seller is a true find. You simply cannot find reliability and value like this in today's market. Some lucky buyer will hopefully cherish this purchase for decades of trouble free motoring.

The Boxster Spyder is such a cool concept. Lightweight and incorporating classic styling cues, the Spyder stands out from other Porsche models of the same generation and seems destined to be an appreciating classic.

I always love Morgan 3 wheelers and I am fascinated to see where they end up around the world at times. This one seems to have ended up in Mallorca, which seems like the perfect place to enjoy a unique open top motoring experience like this.

If many hours spent scrolling through the live auctions of BaT isn't enough for you, here we present the perfect coffee table book to occupy your spare time.
