🚀 Two Project Porsche's That Could Be A Shrewd Investment

PLUS: Why did two Acura NSX-T beauties sell for the exact same price?

The Daily Vroom

Good morning, Vroomers!

I'm still on New York time, so even though I'm back in LA, I'm struggling to keep my eyes open, so today will be a short one. Sorry about missing a meetup in New York - my visit was a whirlwind of just two days. Next time, we'll make it happen.

To the three of you curious about the main goal of my trip, it was an exciting opportunity to meet some potential collaborators for the next phase of The Daily Vroom 👀. Stay tuned for more details!

If you're interested in joining this journey, feel free to get in touch.

I've had some fantastic discussions with many in our community, and I've even had the pleasure of meeting a few of you in person.

But let's not forget why you're here - to get the latest scoop on the world of online auctions, which is always brimming with excitement.

Let’s just dive straight in to today’s edition…

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc..

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below. Which means Hagerty and many others did not sell 5 cars yesterday!

The leaderboard today is notably busy with six companies moving 5 or more cars each.

Yet, it's interesting to note that the combined value of these sales doesn't quite match up to yesterday's impressive $5.5 million tally. BaT had a particularly bustling day, moving an astonishing 94 vehicles. But, the total value of these sales, at $3.4 million, falls short of their usual mark, averaging just under $37k per car.

For a bit of context, Cars & Bids also had a noteworthy day, selling cars worth $797k in total, closely mirroring BaT's average sale price at around $36.2k. As for the other sites, their sales figures are relatively modest, making any detailed analysis less relevant.

Coincidence?

Two Acura NSX-T beauties, years '97 and '02, both supercharged and sleek, each clocked in at a cool $123K at auction - and guess what? They did it within just a week of each other! 🏎️💨 Talk about synchronicity in the car universe!

Here’s the spicy bit: The '97 NSX-T, a stunner in Formula Red, with just 20k miles on it, boasts a supercharged 3.2-liter engine and a six-speed manual that makes gearheads swoon. This red devil, decked out with Comptech goodies and a sleek removable roof, turned heads in Portland, Oregon. But that's not all...

🔥 Just when you thought it couldn't get any hotter, along comes its sibling, the 2002 NSX-T. This one, shining in Silverstone Metallic with an Onyx leather interior, also sports the same heart-pounding 3.2-liter engine and six-speed manual. With only 16k miles, it's as fresh as they come. And it found its new home for the same $123K price tag, what are the odds??

Two Porsche Project Cars That Couldn’t Be More Different

🔥 First up for grabs is a diamond in the rough: a RoW 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo Project. This could be the golden ticket for the savvy restorer or a Porsche aficionado looking for a thrilling project!

🚗 What's Under the Hood? A turbocharged 3.3-liter flat-six paired with a four-speed manual transaxle, promising that legendary Porsche power once brought back to life.

🎨 Aesthetic Appeal: It's wrapped in a unique metallic brown coat, complemented by tan leatherette upholstery. The classic Porsche lines are accented with 16" basketweave-style wheels, a front spoiler, and that iconic “tea tray” rear wing. Plus, it's got a sunroof and fog lights for that extra vintage charm!

🔧 Project Status: Yes, it's a non-runner now, but imagine the potential! With some TLC, this could transform into a stunning example of Porsche's engineering prowess and style from the 80s.

Next up is this ultra-rare 1980 Porsche 924 M471 project car. This no-reserve auction is a dream come true for any Porsche enthusiast or DIY restorer.

🚗 What Makes It Special? This isn’t just any Porsche 924; it's a diamond in the rough, sporting the coveted Sport Group 1 option (M471). Think 924 Turbo chassis, wider track, adjustable Koni shocks, stiffer springs, a quicker steering ratio, the works! Plus, it's got those Porsche 928 brakes paired with ventilated discs from the 911SC – a true performance enhancer.

🎨 Aesthetic Vibes: Cloaked in Diamond Silver Metallic over a Black interior, this gem is a flashback to Porsche’s 80s style. Despite some wear on the paint and a few missing trim pieces, its potential shines through. And yes, it comes with fresh decals to bring back its former glory.

🔧 Project Status: Yes, it needs some love. The front seats crave new upholstery, the dashboard shows its age, and the oil light is being a bit finicky. But the potential? Immense! It even comes with a treasure trove of parts like a timing belt, brake pads, suspension bushings, and even a restored leather-wrapped shift knob.

💡 Why It’s a Steal: With only 100 of these M471-equipped beauties in the US for 1980, this Porsche 924 isn't just a car; it's a slice of automotive history.

Auction Of The Day

Ending today is this sleek 2019 Porsche 911 Speedster, #103 of 1,948, is making waves in the auction world. The current high bid (Wed night) stands at $257,257, but given that three previous online sales ranged between $350k-$395k, we're likely to see some serious action as the clock ticks down!

🚗 What's the Buzz? This isn't just any Porsche - it's a limited-edition Speedster, boasting a 502-hp flat-6 engine and a 6-speed manual transmission, tailor-made for those who crave that top-down, high-octane driving experience. And with a mere ~3,100 miles on the odometer, it's practically brand new.
