The Daily Vroom

Today as Iโ€™m writing this being the 8th June 2023 is the 75th anniversary of Porsche.

Imagine a humble car workshop in Stuttgart, Germany, 1948. There, under the watchful eye of Ferdinand Porsche, a daring dream took root: to create a car that melded performance and elegance like no other. Fast-forward to today, and that playful vision has evolved into a symphony of speed, craftsmanship, and relentless innovation. ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ

From the legendary 911 that turned heads in the '60s to the eco-conscious Taycan which is redefining the EV game, Porsche has spent decades tearing up the rulebook and setting their own standard.

And now, with the astonishing Mission X Hypercar Concept, Porsche is proving once again that they are not just keeping up with the future, they're racing ahead, already crossing the finish line while others are still at the starting grid. Hold onto your hats, folks; it's been an exhilarating ride and if Porsche's incredible evolution is anything to go by, the journey is only just beginning! ๐ŸŽข๐ŸŒ

That's precisely why today, we're throwing a virtual party, all in honor of Porsche, as we dive deep into the phenomenal world of their extraordinary cars in the content that follows.

๐Ÿ”ง Under the Hood The car is powered by a 2.0-liter Type 901/02 flat-six engine, equipped with Weber carburetors and twin-spark ignition. It also comes with an uninstalled 2.2-liter Type 771 DOHC flat-eight engine.

๐ŸŽ๏ธ Racing Pedigree This Porsche 910 has a storied racing history, participating in the 1972 Watkins Glen 6 Hours, the 1973 24 Hours of Daytona, and multiple editions of the Tour Auto among other European historic events.

๐ŸŽจ Recent Refresh In 2022, the car underwent a refresh by the selling dealer, including a repaint in white and replacement of the side windows and tires.

๐Ÿ“œ Documentation The sale included extensive documentation, such as correspondence from Vasek Polak, the carโ€™s first private owner, FFSA certification documents, a FIVA identity card, logbooks, historical photos, and service invoices from its time in Europe.

๐ŸŽ‰ In Conclusion The sale of this 1967 Porsche 910 is a testament to the car's rich history and the value of well-preserved, rare vehicles. With its impressive racing pedigree, recent refurbishments, and extensive documentation, it's no surprise that this unique vehicle fetched a remarkable $2,500,000. This sale not only highlights the enduring appeal of the Porsche brand but also the significant interest in classic cars with a storied past.

NEARLY SALES OF THE DAY

๐Ÿš— The 1958 Porsche 356A Emory Special Sunroof Coupe ๐Ÿš—

The classic beauty of this magnificent coupe, perfectly merging with Emory Motorsports' innovation, couldn't escape the eyes of our avid car enthusiasts. This jewel of a car came close to securing a new home with a last bid of a whopping $699,356 on BaT.

๐Ÿ” Eye-catching Features ๐Ÿ”

Born in 1958, this Porsche 356A was more than a car; it was a work of art! ๐ŸŽจ Emory Motorsports refurbished and modified this vehicle, transforming it into the fifth Emory Special ever built. Not to forget, it boasts an electric sunroof, making it a rare gem. ๐ŸŒž

๐Ÿ”ฅ Under the Hood ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Packing a punch with a 2.5-liter Polo Dry-Sump Flat-Four, the car is not just a pretty face but a beast in disguise! It's equipped with twin Weber 48 IDA Carburetors and Twin-Plug Ignition for a robust driving experience. The engine received a thorough overhaul in late 2022, reaffirming its pristine condition. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ

๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ Exterior Aesthetics ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ

Sporting an elegant black paint job, the coupe embodies sophistication and style. The louvered panels in the rear quarters, along with the deleted drip rails, lend a unique aesthetic appeal to the classic model. Plus, the 16x5" Billet Alloy Wheels give it a timeless charm. ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿ’บ Interior Comfort ๐Ÿ’บ

The comfort of this car is unparalleled with green leather upholstery offering an exquisite driving experience. Additional interior highlights include a 911R-style steering wheel and Fibersteel bucket seats that exude vintage luxury. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

๐Ÿค” Why Didn't It Sell? ๐Ÿค”

I'm slightly baffled as to why this deal didn't go through. Was the seller's expectation significantly beyond the bid? It was a mere $644 shy of a hefty $700k - the reserve couldn't possibly have been that high, right? Here's a little insider scoop on the online auction scene: many auction houses have a clause in their terms allowing them to inject a bit of their own ๐Ÿ’ฐ into the mix, in order to seal the deal. Given a $5k fee, it would be quite simple for the auction house to sweeten the pot if the deal was close. So, my guess is the reserve must have been set considerably higher.

1995 Porsche 911 Carrera RS

Result: Bid to $340,000 on 6/8/23 - on BaT

๐Ÿ’Ž First Impressions:

Now here's a sight that gets your heart racing! This '95 Porsche 911 Carrera RS, an embodiment of pure German performance, didn't quite hit the mark at the auction, with a high bid of $340,000.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Under the Hood:

Just lift that hood, and you'll find Porsche's raw power unleashed. This beast rocks a robust 3.8-liter flat-six, paired with a six-speed manual transaxle for that sweet, unfiltered driving experience we all crave. You've got a limited-slip diff in the mix too - talk about being in control!

๐Ÿ’ฟ Exterior:

Man, just look at it! Drenched in that stunning Polar Silver Metallic paint, this 911 commands attention. The aggressive body styling of the 993 era is absolutely on point, plus it's got the seam-welded body shell, aluminum hood, and those sleek front and rear spoilers. And those 18" Speedline multi-piece wheels? Ice cold! It's also got a set of Cargraphic mufflers, delivering an exhaust note that's music to any gearhead's ears.

๐Ÿš€ Interior:

Step inside, and it's all luxury and performance. There's something about that two-tone black and gray leather upholstery that screams sophistication, yet those manually adjustable sport seats and fold-down rear seats don't let you forget this car's racing heritage. And hey, it's not just about the speed - this ride is kitted out with air conditioning, power-operated windows, front airbags, and even a retro factory cassette player.

๐Ÿ’ธ So, Why Didn't It Sell?:

With the hammer falling at $340,000, the reserve just wasn't met. But why? Maybe it's because a similar model recently went for $360,000, and perhaps the seller was looking to top that. The market's always changing, right? But at the end of the day, it feels like the market's speaking up on how much they think this Porsche model's worth, even on a day of Porscheโ€™s 75th anniversary.
