WEEKEND TOP 5 SALES

2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta $631,640

1997 Porsche 911 Turbo $395,000

1993 Honda NSX Type R $286,400

2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 $229,500

2022 Porsche 911 GT3 $221,000

Once again, a tip of the hat to Collecting Cars for pulling off the top sale this past weekend. Just a heads-up for those not in the loop, the 2015 Ferrari Speciale Aperta that changed hands is one of only 499 made, making it quite the catch. These beauties aren't exactly a dime a dozen at auctions, and surprisingly, this one went for less than we've seen before. But, get this – it's not the market taking a dip. It's all about the car's higher mileage and its less-than-pristine condition.

Not trailing far behind was the gorgeous 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo. Last month, it found a buyer willing to shell out $400,000, but then... crickets. The buyer vanished into thin air. Thankfully, it didn’t take long to get it back on the auction block, and the sale price didn’t suffer much. Here’s hoping this buyer actually sticks around. And yes, Bring a Trailer made a nice little bonus on this one with their double fee!

Moving on, we had the 1993 Honda NSX Type R – or the Acura NSX Type R for us folks in North America – fetching a solid $286,400. With mileage on the lower end, this gem is one of just 482 made for Japan, packing a V6 that loves to rev. There's another one up for grabs right now, sporting high mileage but still a dream to drive. Definitely worth checking out.

Then there's the 2024 Mercedes-AMG G63 that someone managed to flip for a 'mere' $20k over its MSRP. The new owner snagged it in a particularly stunning and unique color combo.

Wrapping things up, we saw a 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 an Alumni listing, go for $221k with 12,000 miles on the odometer. Quite a journey from its original sale in 2022 for $251,000 when it was practically brand new with just 353 miles.

Will this $1.2 Million Restoration Reach New Heights on the Auction Block?

The 1934 Packard Twelve Series 1108 Individual Custom Convertible Sedan by Dietrich, currently catching eyes on Bring A Trailer, is nothing short of a rolling masterpiece—a museum piece on wheels, if you will. It’s a shame it’s not basking in the spotlight it deserves with just over 20k views, considering it's not just any car, but a testament to automotive elegance and history.

This Packard is the epitome of luxury and history, dripping in opulence from every hood vent and chrome piece. It’s a breathtaking example of what makes a car truly cool on BaT. The tale of its journey, from acquisition by Paul Andrews in 2009, through its meticulous restoration by Steve Babinsky—a name synonymous with excellence in automotive restoration—to its triumphant sweep at Pebble Beach and Amelia Island, speaks volumes of its pedigree. This car isn’t just a vehicle; it's a treasure, embodying the pinnacle of design and craftsmanship.

Let's break it down:

  • It’s a Dietrich Individual Custom, the only open Convertible Sedan body style for its year, making it an incredibly rare find with only about 12 still known to exist.

  • It boasts an impeccable history, having been a jewel in both the Andrews and Cassini Collections.

  • The meticulous restoration, to the tune of over $1.2 million, culminated in a string of prestigious awards including Best in Class at the 2010 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the Amelia Award at the 2011 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.

  • This piece of automotive royalty, with chassis number 902670 and engine number 901752, hails from the renowned Earle C. Anthony Dealership in Los Angeles, and its grandeur is meticulously documented in Edward J. Blend’s revered "The Magnificent Packard Twelve of Nineteen Thirty Four."

Currently, with a bid exceeding $700k and the auction drawing to a close today, this 1934 Packard Twelve Series 1108 Individual Custom Convertible Sedan by Dietrich stands as a shining beacon of automotive history and craftsmanship. It is a stark reminder of the artistry and elegance that once defined the automotive world. For those who appreciate the finer things in life, this Packard isn't just a car; it's a legacy on wheels, demanding the reverence and admiration it so richly deserves.

This car has graced the live auction scene on multiple occasions, reaching its peak bid of $875,000 in 2022. At last year's Monterey auction, the highest bid it secured was $700,000.

Unless today brings an unexpected turn of events (and let's face it, in the world of auctions, anything can happen), it looks like it's heading towards a Reserve Not Met outcome.

Supercharged Speculation: The 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante's Auction Encore

Diving straight into the high-octane world this week, a 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante Coupe just caught my eye, and oh boy, it’s a tale that's as intriguing as the car itself. Just four days fresh off the auction block at BaT, where it reached a high bid of $214,000, it's now making waves over at PCarMarket. Now, we’ve seen cars play the auction hopscotch before – flopping on one platform only to soar on another. However, for this particular Lambo, I’m leaning towards skepticism on its sale this round.

According to the seller (and they’re totally in their right to hold out for what they deem the right price), they’re eyeing a market value north of $300k. I’m all for happy surprises and love being proven wrong because, in the auction realm, all you need is two determined bidders to turn the tables. But, with the clock ticking down and not a single bid in sight, hitting those high hopes seems like a stretch.

So, what's on the block? A supercharged beast with a 5.2-Liter V10 heart, enhanced with a VF Engineering Supercharger Kit and a Ryft Titanium Exhaust System, not to mention it’s wrapped in a stunning Color-Shift Vinyl. It’s a marvel from every angle, sitting proudly on Bronze-Finished 20" Narvi Wheels, and boasting an interior dressed in Black Alcantara Upholstery with forged-composite trim. With 34k miles on the odometer and a clean bill of health from Carfax, it’s a performance powerhouse that’s seen a good stretch of road and isn’t afraid to show it.

This ride is not just about speed; it’s about making a statement with every mile. Yet, with 4 days to go and the bidding war eerily quiet, this story is shaping up to be one of those "wait and see" scenarios. Will it defy the odds, or will the seller’s dreams of a $300k+ sale remain just that—a dream?

One thing’s for sure, this Supercharged 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante Coupe’s journey from BaT to PCarMarket in such a short span is a twist worth watching. Whether it finds its next passionate driver or heads back to the auction circuit is anyone’s guess. Stay tuned, Vroomers—this week is full throttle, and we're just getting started!
