Yesterday presented some challenges for many platforms in our market. The total car sales amounted to just over $5.1 million, a decrease from the $7.5 million achieved the day before.

In this fragmented market, we can observe a clear leader in terms of the number of sales, which is surprise surprise Bring A Trailer. Following closely in second place is Cars & Bids, boasting a consistent high sell-through rate.

In the UK 🇬🇧, we have Collecting Cars and Car & Classic, both vying for the third position. It's worth noting that these two UK platforms cater to distinct markets, with Collecting Cars primarily specializing in higher-priced vehicles. However, currently, Car & Classic appears to be inching ahead of its UK competitor in terms of both the number of sales and sell-through rate. How long will that continue?

Bring A Trailer has just launched (this morning) their first ever iOS App which you can download here. From my first limited play with it, the app looks great and seems very easy to search for cars, watch videos and make bids/comments. Trust me, the Ford Bronco is more than just a fad; it's an enduring American icon that's here to stay.

So, whether it's the nostalgia of the classics or the thrill of the new models, the Ford Bronco has a special place in our hearts and always will. It's not just a car; it's a piece of America, and it'll forever be a part of our national identity. Now lets get into some of the stats for the last 3 months of those sales.

Price Distribution Summary:

The histogram above shows the distribution of Ford Bronco prices sold in online auctions from June to August 2023. The distribution appears to be right-skewed, meaning there are more sales occurring at lower price points, while fewer sales occur at higher prices.

Most sales are concentrated in the lower price range, roughly between $30,000 and $70,000. However, there are a few Broncos that have sold for prices well above $100,000, such as this 1970 Bronco below.

Sales Over Time Summary:

We can observe that the number of sales is relatively consistent across these months, without a drastic increase or decrease.

This suggests that the demand for Ford Broncos in online auctions has remained stable over the summer months of 2023.

Impact of Manufacturing Year on Selling Price Summary:

It's evident that Broncos from different manufacturing years have a wide range of selling prices.

Notably, older models, particularly from the 1970s, seem to fetch high prices, possibly due to their classic status, and the coolness 😎 of some of those older models. On the other hand, some of the newer models also command high prices, which makes sense. It’s the 80’s & 90’s models that have yet to hit the heights. The question is will they ever be as high as the 70’s?

It's quite clear that Bring A Trailer dominates the market when it comes to buying or selling Broncos. If they ever decide to run advertisements, this chart could be a powerful asset for showcasing their market leadership.

In fact, this got me thinking that other platforms specializing in the top sales of specific vehicle makes could employ a similar advertising approach. For instance, Cars & Bids could leverage this strategy for highlighting their leadership in selling Rivians.

Decade Analysis Summary:

1. Total Sales in Dollars by Decade: The first chart shows that the 1970s stand out with the highest total sales in dollars, followed by the 2020s. This suggests that both vintage and modern models are highly valued in the market.

2. Number of Sales by Decade: The second chart shows the number of sales by decade. Here, the 1970s again lead in the number of sales, reinforcing the idea that vintage Broncos are quite popular.

These trends indicate that Broncos from the 1970s are both numerous and high-value in the market, while newer models from the 2020s also attract significant sales but are less numerous.
