Will This Countach Sell? Current Bid $2.2m
The Daily Vroom
Good Morning Vroomers!
There’s only one auction everyone’s talking about today, and it’s this one: the stunning 85-Mile 2022 Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4, currently sitting at $2.2m.
But with the last bid placed a week ago, there’s a real chance this could fizzle out as a damp squib when the clock hits zero. I’m hoping otherwise and will be glued to the screen, fingers crossed that some last-minute action lights up this high-stakes showdown. Stay tuned—let’s see if anyone jumps in to keep this drama alive!
Catch you on Monday,
Sam
MARKET LEADERBOARD
💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc… All online auction sites are analyzed to put this leaderboard together.
I only include websites that have sold 5+ vehicles in the chart below.
A strong gauge of the market’s current state is the reserve sell-through rate. If you’ve been tracking these figures this month, you’ll notice that yesterday’s results are pretty much in line with the month’s overall trend. Let me ask you a question:
What do you think is driving the current sell-through rate for reserve auctions? |
YESTERDAY’S TOP 5 SALES
Yesterday’s top sales saw some heavy hitters, kicking off with a 10k-Mile 2006 Ford GT that fetched $411,000. This is the second one to sell this week—another GT with just 14 miles went for $450,000 at SBX, making this price look solid considering the mileage difference. Keep in mind, these originally went for $198,000 MSRP!
Next up was a 2024 Porsche 911 Dakar, selling for $300,000. With the Dakar’s not moving much recently, this seller wisely set a reasonable reserve, still making a profit off its $230k MSRP. The 18k-Mile 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 landed $198,000, quite a debut for a first-time Porsche buyer—talk about setting the bar high.
A rare 347-Powered Kirkham Motorsports 289 Street sold for $185,000, a serious piece of engineering and a nod to the golden era of Cobras.
Finally, a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 rounded out the day at $182,000, as dealers duked it out, clearly eyeing a markup on the showroom floor.

The Fight for Third Place: Lightweights Looking for a Heavyweight Punch
Not gonna go too much in depth today. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again—behind Bring a Trailer and Cars & Bids, the market is still up for grabs, but it’s not like Hemmings and Hagerty are slugging it out like heavyweights in the ring. More like lightweights, if we’re honest.
Hemmings is roughly 30% ahead of Hagerty in terms of sales volume lately, and I’ve been saying for a while now, Hagerty should really focus on Broad Arrow, where they need the help. Instead, they’re busy snapping up specialists from competitors, hoping it’ll somehow tip the scales. But talent alone won’t move the needle if the overall strategy isn’t right. The gap for that coveted third spot remains wide open, and anyone who wants it better start swinging a lot harder.
Bargain Sale of the Day
Remember earlier this week, we covered the Hummer H2 saga: initially sold on Bring a Trailer before the buyer backed out, prompting the seller to relist on Cars & Bids. Well, it finally sold again, and this time the deal is sticking—but at a steep discount. The Hummer went for just $16,000 compared to its previous $27,500 sale price on BaT, highlighting the seller's urgency to move on. Meanwhile, the buyer is thrilled with the deal, as you'll see below. This kind of scenario isn’t uncommon—sales that fall through on one platform often find new life on another, or even through private deals behind the scenes.
