๐ PLUS: Why This Pagoda Sold For So Much...
The Daily Vroom
Happy Thursday Vroomers!
Today I felt the pain of writing 120+ consecutive newsletters, my wrist is on fire ๐ฅ. But I canโt let you down with no newsletter, so here you go ๐.
I do want to ask you one favor though. Could you please share this newsletter with just one person who you think might enjoy it.
Maybe itโs not todayโs issue, it could be Augustโs Deep dive or BaT Alumni Listings: The Revealing Results Breakdown or in fact just our homepage - https://thedailyvroom.beehiiv.com/
Thanks so much, Sam
MARKET LEADERBOARD
๐ฐ The figures shared below donโt count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc..
I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below.
Today we have a larger than usual market leaderboard with Hemmings & PCarMarket joining in. Before you get too excited Hemmings sold just $140K worth of cars, whilst PCarMarket sold $150K. These numbers are a long way from BaT who sold a little โdisappointingโ $3.9m worth of cars which is more than all the other platforms combined!!

2005 Ford GT $382,000
2018 Porsche 911 (991.2) GT3 RS $218,689
Superformance MKIII 5-Speed $125,000
2006 Ferrari F430 Spider $124,000
FORD F-SERIES
Much of our coverage in The Daily Vroom tends to focus on the high-end of the automotive market. However, I fully understand that not everyone, including myself, can stretch their budget to accommodate the soaring prices of classics like the Countach. Today, I'd like to shift our attention to a different facet of the market, one that forms the backbone of virtually all platforms โ the average sales.
Over the last couple of months, we've observed that the average sale price hovered around $31,000. It's a range that's more accessible to a broader range of enthusiasts. To kick things off, let's delve into vehicles within this price bracket.
Unsurprisingly, the Ford F-Series takes the lead as the most popular choice among buyers in terms of sales. So, let's dive into the details of these sales and see what makes them so appealing.
Below are the main platforms who have sold an F-Series in July & August.
The "25th Percentile" and "75th Percentile" columns indicate the price below which a given percentage of the sales fall. For example, for AutoHunter, 25% of the Ford F-Series sales were below $10,050, and 75% were below $16,330.75.
Older Models: For the older models, specifically those from the late 1970s to the early 1990s, the average selling prices generally remain below $20,000. This suggests that these older models, likely due to their age and possibly higher mileage, typically sell for lower prices.
2010s Onward: From around 2015 and onward, there's a clear upward trend in the average selling prices, reaching close to $30,000 for the most recent models. This is expected as newer models tend to have updated features, lower mileage, and are generally in better condition.
Overall: The chart indicates that the most recent Ford F-Series models (from the 2010s and beyond) command the highest average selling prices in online auctions, with older models generally fetching lower prices. However, there are exceptions, where certain models might have higher value due to factors like limited editions, rarity, or other unique characteristics.
No good analysis here can be finished without finding out what day of the week was the most popular ๐.
Trend Summary: The prices of the Ford F-Series sold in the online auctions have gone up from July to August. For instance, if a Ford F-Series was sold at the average price of $18,992.62 (to be exact ๐) in July, a similar car would have been sold for about $19,863.36 in August, indicating an upward trend in prices.
