😱 Was This The Best Car Flip Ever?

🚗 PLUS: Awesome Sale Of This Porsche Speedster

The Daily Vroom

Good Morning, Vroomers!

Today I’m planning to have a day off charts and just concentrate on writing up some beautiful cars that have sold or are about to sell. Let’s see if I can keep that promise.

Let’s get right into it…

MARKET LEADERBOARD

💰 The figures shared below don’t count any other sales such as car seats, memorabilia etc..

I only include websites that have sold 5+ cars in the chart below. Which means Hagerty, PCarMarket and many others did not sell 5+ cars yesterday!

So so so typical. Yesterday I was writing on how sell-through rates were going up and of course it came back to bite me in the butt!! Sell-through rates fell yesterday as did the number of sales. Was it Tuesday blues? Or are we seeing a new trend.

What I do know - there is a potential for a big old sale this morning on BaT. This listing hasn’t had a single bid since October 1st, BUT that bid was over $1m. Will there be any more action? Only one way to find out..

BEST CAR FLIP EVER?

OMG! 😱😱 The 2023 Maserati MC20 Cielo PrimaSerie Edition has just been flipped for a staggering $470,000 on 10/10/23! 🎉 That's a jaw-dropping surge from its original MSRP of $353,000. 💰💰

Link to auction here.

Now, let's get something straight. This isn't just any Maserati. 🚗💨 This is one of only 65 PrimaSerie edition examples ever crafted, a testament to Maserati's dedication to luxury, performance, and exclusivity.

Born in the heart of Italy 🇮🇹 and a symbol of its rich automotive heritage, this car is nothing less than a masterpiece. 🖼️ Freshly minted from Maserati of Troy, Michigan, and with only 115 miles to its name, its Acquamarina paint shimmers like the Mediterranean Sea. Under its hood, the roar of a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 echoes the power and passion of Italian engineering. 🌊✨

Cast your mind back to my post from last week, discussing the booming trend of flipping cars. 📈🚗 This Maserati's sale exemplifies that trend to the core. It's both awe-inspiring and a tad crazy to witness cars, especially of such calibre, appreciate so swiftly in value.

And here's a lingering thought 🤔: Is this the highest a Maserati has ever fetched over its MSRP? Given the rarity and allure of this particular vehicle, I have a sneaky suspicion that in a 5-10 year hindsight, this price tag might just look like a bargain. Only time will tell! 🕰️🚗🔥

SALE(s) OF THE DAY

This is a first for us on The Daily Vroom. A double delight has just been auctioned off: a pair of Chevrolet Corvettes - a 1958 Corvette Fuelie 4-Speed and a 2008 Corvette Z06 - for a combined $250,000 🎉

🔗Link to auction here.

Breaking it down:

  • The C6 Z06 Corvettes, which are quite the regulars on this site, typically go for around $60kish.

  • That means we're looking at the classic 1958 Corvette C1 at a solid $190k. 🤑 Which by the way I think we’ll be a good deal if buyer most likely doesn’t add any mileage and puts it back up for auction in the future.

Now, let's dive into the specs:

1958 Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie 4-Speed 🚗🔙

  • Only 18 miles on the odometer.

  • Powered by a 283ci V8 with a Rochester mechanical fuel-injection system.

  • Sleek black paint job with a red vinyl interior, giving it that vintage charm.

  • Recently underwent a refurbishment and even won an NCRS Top Flight Award in 2007.

2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 🚗🔥

  • Only 16 miles driven.

  • Powered by a 7.0-liter LS7 V8, offering a whopping 505 horsepower.

  • Sporting a black exterior and leather interior with Z06-embroidered headrests.

  • Originally delivered to the National Corvette Museum with a sticker price of $76,880.

The two Corvettes share the last six digits of their respective serial numbers and were acquired by the seller as a matching pair. The meticulous care and maintenance are evident: both cars recently had their oils changed, batteries replaced, and the C1 even had its fuel injection pump rebuilt.

For the car enthusiasts out there: this pair isn't just a purchase, it's an investment in American 🇺🇸 automotive history. Enjoy the ride, Mrfeatherlite! 🍾

Wow! 😱 The 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster just changed hands for $109,000 which I think is a steal! (let me know your opinion below)

🔗 Link to auction here.

Dive deeper, and this sale becomes even more impressive:

  • Rarity: This isn't your everyday Porsche. The 911 Speedster, offered only in 1989, saw just 823 units reach the U.S. market.

  • Pristine Origins: Hailing from Bo Willis Porsche, Georgia, this car radiates in its Guards Red exterior paired with a classic black leather interior.

  • Factory Features: Equipped with a short-shift gear lever, power-adjustable Sport Seats, rear storage compartment, air conditioning, and an alarm system, it came ready to impress.

  • Signature Look: The Speedster's unique design includes a short windscreen and a double-hump tonneau cover. This model also sports the 911 Turbo's wide bodywork and rides on 16” Fuchs wheels with Yokohama A052 tires.

  • Interior Details: The interior boasts power-adjustable Sport Seats, a dedicated luggage compartment in lieu of rear seats, a steering wheel with a raised hub, a Blaupunkt Charleston radio, and more.

  • Performance: With an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine and a G50 5-speed manual transmission, it outputs 217 HP. It also benefits from the brakes and suspension system of the 930 Turbo model.

Do you agree with me that this was a 'steal' at $109,000

Closing Thoughts:
The Bentley Continental GT Speed is a testament to Bentley's century-long legacy of blending luxury with performance. This particular model, in its timeless color scheme and rich features, is an epitome of grand touring excellence.

However, personally, I don't quite get the allure of the Bentley. It just doesn't do anything for me. 🤷‍♂️🚗

Despite my initial promise of a chart-free day, my curiosity got the better of me. I found myself pondering whether the market mirrored my own preferences by featuring relatively few Bentley sales. Consequently, I embarked on a brief exploration into last month's Bentley sales to gauge the current market stance.

Bentley Sales in September: A Dive into the Numbers

September 2023 showcased a diverse range of Bentley sales, from vintage models to the latest releases. The Bentley Brooklands from 1993, with its classic green exterior, was a steal at just $7,375, representing the more affordable end of Bentley ownership. View the 1993 Bentley Brooklands.

Midway in the price spectrum, a 2007 Bentley Continental Convertible, also in a striking green exterior, found a new owner for $40,500. This model serves as a testament to Bentley's enduring allure over the years.

On the premium end, the 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed, in a sophisticated gray, exemplified luxury at its finest, fetching a price of $250,000. Explore the 2022 Bentley Continental GT Speed.

These sales highlight the vast price range and model variety available to Bentley enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned collector or a newcomer to the brand, there's a Bentley for every budget and taste. (maybe just not mine!)

Not surprisingly most Bentley’s were sold on UK platforms. The average price sold on each platform is slightly skewed in favor of BaT due to the one sale of $250,000- but that’s how averages work!

One of your favorite (and mine) and probably least insightful charts, is the day of the week when cars were sold. Here you can see when Bentley’s were sold last month. Not much we can take away from this…

With the 2000s being the most popular decade by far, the most sought-after year of car sold was 2007, exemplified by models like the Azure.

Despite my initial vow to steer clear of charts today, I find myself submerged 🤿 in Bentley sales data, tempted by the prospect of crafting ten more visuals, help!!!! Time to pull back before it gets too crazy.
